Rams get #1 overall

this is what we will have to do in the near future to replace Romo......... some here think that drafting Ramsey, Bosa or Jack this year will keep us from having to do this in the next year or two.

If Jerry were to pass up on an opportunity to get a franchise QB at 4 one of 3 scenarios lies in wait for us.

1. we mortgage our future like the Rams did
2. Jerry tries to go cheap and uses a 3rd or 4th rounder and hands him the keys to the franchise (Quincy Carter)
3. He signs some journeyman QB. (Drew Bledsoe, Vinney Testicleverde)

None of which will be good for the cowboys. Sadly, #1 would be of preference and the ONLY one that has a chance of solving the problem. When considering the Jerry Jones rules. But.............by giving up two years worth of high draft picks, what chance would Jones have of formulating a roster around the QB? Zero to none?

They say a future 1st is like the #48 pick in this years draft. It lines up on the trade value chart.

#4- 1700
#15- 1050
#48- 450 (next years 1st perceived value)
#76- 210

1700 vs 1710 in point value comparison

I don't believe that Tennessee acquired an additional 1st round pick to turn around and trade it away.

The best player in the NFL Draft fell out of the top-5 last year (Leonard Williams). And it could happen again this year with Laremy Tunsil.

And yet some still can't see it and go on and on about Mykes Jack and Ezekial Elliott...

Good thing Garrett raved about how incredible Wentz was at the senior bowl he coached and how in love with him he was. Right after the senior bowl Wentz zoomed right up to the #1 pick and teams are trading their future for him. Unless Garrett was blowing smoke in order to get Goff to drop to 4, it was nothing short of a dumb move.

Same argument I presented in the draft zone.

If the first two picks are Goff and Wentz, I'm not crazy about any of them at the #4 pick. None of the 'defensive playmakers' at that spot actually make 'big plays' in my opinion. None of them create the huge game-changing plays a guy worthy of #4 overall should. That's why if I was stuck I'd draft Tunsil and create a truly dominant offensive line.

Yah, Im not sure I can hang with you on that one. All 5 of these guys is going to demand 10 million or more per year within 2 or 3 years of each other. I think I would try to trade back.

C'mon stash. That does not rhyme what so ever.

So if the Cowboys some how take Elliott, that'll be upsetting to you?

At #4, very much so.

They could have gotten a proven quality NFL running back in Lamar Miller in free agency for less money and they didn't.

To turn around and pay more money for an unproven NFL running back while giving up the #4 overall pick in the process is asinine.

Draft sites, analysts, ESPN, NFL Network. I've seen a majority say none of the QB's this year were the typical high end franchise caliber types. They still thought Wentz and Goff were good and due to demand would go in the top 10, but even then many had then rated on their boards around 10 or lower.

Sorry, I'm not seeing it and never have. Goff was the consensus top quarterback and possible top pick since last year. Only Wentzamania has changed that for some people. I'd have to see some quotes saying "not franchise quarterback".

But is it surprising?

Pretty much every insider with connections to the team has hinted that the Cowboys never preferred Wentz.

I don't see anyone trading down to 2, not the niners not the eagles. Both teams have a lot invested in their QB. I also am not convinced that the Browns are taking a QB at 2, I think they may wait til the 2nd round. I think the Cowboys may still be in the running for the QB. If the Browns do take a QB, I'm alright with Zeke or a trade down. You don't spend the 4th pick for a RT or a safety.

Agree that it isn't the most likely scenario, but it's fun to play out the "what-if's". If they look at it like they still got the guy that they had rated #1 and who they would have chosen at #1 and netted a few more picks for doing what they would have done at #1.

soooo... can Tunsil play right tackle?

lol holy crap. Imagine this O-line... Tyron / Collins / Fredrick / Martin / Tunsil

:lmao:Need to blame Garrett for not getting your QB?

Burn him!
