Like who would Gilmore replace on our roster?

It's not about Gilmore....it's about the attitude and process of building a SB winner. And the talent of a GM who has no high draft picks in the Draft, and yet continues to add talent to their roster. Dallas only has excuses.

Because they've build around elite talent and paid it accordingly. Where as we extend and reward mediocrity (or at best good) talent.

You need to stop thinking about how the Rams have won it, at present our model isnt the same, however, we may be trying to realign to that approach with the cutting (non-tender) of: Coop, La'el, Gregory.

Jerry and Stephen are out to win the Forbes Super Bowl. When they bring home the title of most valuable franchise then they rest on their accomplishments. Whatever happens on the field is irrelevant to them.

Looking at some of the draft threads i'm beginning to believe that the Jones' are just providing the team that a lot of the vocal fanbase actually want.......wanting 5th/7th ranked DE's, OT or WR's, just because they're highly visible positions.

But why don't Dallas spend more in free agency? Jerry is a multi billionaire and a fantastic businessman. I can't have it that he's just being tight.

It must be about principle and having had his fingers burned with a couple of free agents in the past, I think he decided hey we aren't going to get screwed over again.

But the successful teams use the draft and spending in free agency to complement one another, so if that's the case then he's just shooting himself in the foot.

Even after restructuring letting Coop and Collins go, they have 19 million which 10 million is needed for the rooks.
If you wanna pay big bucks to Jags then no FA's for you!!! :(

I'd be happy with draft capital going to offensive line or defensive line. I hope we don't spend high on WR. I'd really like to bring Olin Martin's brother for guard, draft an OT or DE in rounds 1 and 2, either one would make me happy. I'll be more disappointed in FO if we draft another WR to sell jerseys. If they draft a quality OT then that would help us tremendously.

Drafting, has been good the past few years, but trading and free agency, has been bad for a long time.

Sanders and Haley, are the last acquisitions that led to success for this team. That does not bode well for this franchise.

The Rams aren't afraid to kick the tires, at least they bring in players to look at.

When you're one or two players out and don't have early round draft picks you're only avenue is FA. As @PAPPYDOG mentioned, it does help to be SB Champ's.

Unfortunately when your roster's short of: LG, LB, DT?, WR, T and relying on a number of untried rookies to step up you make the decision to either go all in on one player and hope or spread the risk. There isnt a necessary right or wrong, but lets not pretend we're in a similar position to the Rams.

The Rams are being run correctly. They have their QB and are going to make as many runs as they can while Stafford is still great. It has become a very attractive place to vets looking to win. They can rent guys for a year , lose them the next, and its fine. We get too attached to "our guys".

Just to reiterate, the Rams have been to 2 of the last 4 Super Bowls and haven't had a first round pick since 2016.

Maybe he wants too much? He is far from sucking though.

Gilmore has made his money. So, he can be be choosey. He isn't coming to Dallas barring a "setting the market" type contract. If all he can find are one year deals, he will go somewhere he thinks the team has a good chance to make a super bowl. Rams have a huge advantage over Dallas with these kinds of free agents.

That may well be the case but it still doesn't put us in a situation to follow suit. We need to continue letting those contracts to Zeke and possibly Tyron and Dlaw to run down and build from there.

We don't need Gilmore. We're set at corner unless some gets hurt. The guys we needed were already signed.

Here's why the Cowboys will never do what the Rams do.

The Cowboys value their draft picks WAYYYY too much. The Rams take advantage of teams that value draft pics WAYYYY too much.

The Rams know that they can trade their 1st, 2nd, 3rd, or whatever pick for a proven Pro-Bowl level talent while the Cowboys hope they hit the lottery with their picks. The Rams use their draft picks to trade for players that have already proven to be good, while the Cowboys will use theirs to take a chance on Taco, LVE, Jaylon Smith, Trysten Hill, or Connor Williams.

When it comes to FA the Cowboys philosophy is once again completely different and loserish. They value their own talent WAYYYY too much and focus on resigning them each year. While the Rams will resign guys that have proven to be worth it and look for upgrade in FA for guys that are not cutting it.

If the Cowboys had drafted Jarred Goff and he lead us to a Super Bowl appearance as he did for the Rams he would be under one of the biggest contracts in NFL history right now. The Rams knew that he wasn't the guy and traded him away for a guy that is actually THAT guy. The Cowboys would have NEVER done that simply because Jerry would rather win with a guy he drafted so he can say he's right about something.

We don't have the front office expertise to do what the rams are doing. I was just pointing out that the Rams are being run correctly. Goff got them them further than Dak has ever got this team but it wasn't good enough in LA. They went out and got a better Qb.

That organization not only has more expertise evaluating talent and managing the cap, but they also have higher expectations than the Jones boys who have been redefining front office mediocrity for 25 years and the bar keeps getting lower.
