Rams releasing WR Cooper Kupp unless a trade materializes - Cowboy connection

Drafting a WR in the 1st round is a bad idea. Even after a trade down.

Unless they are signing a vet that can come in here and make an impact that would be a waste of FA money.
My bet is still on Stefon Diggs signing with the team to play with his brother. He's coming off injury so his stock is down some. I don't know how much, though.

Why is anybody assuming that Kupp would even want to come here?

He's played for an organization that is serious about roster building to win a championship

I am tempted to agree. But with the possibility of Diggs getting cut, signing Stefon would likely wait until that decision is made. By then, the Cowboys could already have added a WR.

The idea of trading or cutting Diggs has never made sense to me. He has an injury guarantee for this year, so I believe his base salary for the year is already guaranteed until having to wait until the fifth day of the league year for it to be. Unless I'm misunderstanding something about the injury guarantee, I have trouble with the idea that we'd cut Diggs and gain nothing for it.

Kupp has crested the hill and is cruising towards the end of his career. Will be 32 before the season and hasn’t played more than 12 games in the past 3 seasons dealing with a multitude of injuries. IF healthy he’s an above average possession WR.

With all that said…yeah seems like a Jerry signing.
Averaged 5.5 catches for 59 yards last. Decent production. Not earth shattering. Two big questions if he is a guy you bring in.

How long can he maintain starter level production? Right now he might be a guy you added a year to late

Whats your plan for the 5 to 7 games he is likely to miss? 9, 12, and 12 games played the last 3 years
