Poor Romo...he has to throw the football. 45 times too!

I hope his back don't hurt today.

LOL, Murray's lowest average yards per carry for a season was 4.1 in 2012. The offensive line consisted of 5 starters that had never played their position for the Cowboys. I wouldn't point to Randle's numbers as an indication of a successful evening. I'm not saying he played poorly, I would call it average. I'm giving him a pass for at least three games, I expect much better as he develops cohesion with his offensive teammates

I love my Cowboys and I root for Cowboy players but why do some of them have to make that so difficult? Joseph Randle has behaved like a fool since the day he got here. The shoplifting and the possession charge after a domestic disturbance four months later is bad enough. But then to criticize Murray, the leading rusher in the NFL after he has left the team is plain dumb. If he could have done better then why did he not start ahead of Murray? We all know the importance that Garrett places on fair competition, he has no favorites, no agenda, he is not influenced by contract. The best player gets to play and that better player was Murray.

It doesn't take reading between the lines to realize why Randle is so excited about this game. He actually believes that if he outgains Murray it will validate his claims and his position on the team, as if it is fair to compare Randle's results behind the Cowboy line with Murray's behind the Eagle line. Randle has put an immense amount of pressure on his shoulders. If he doesn't come through with a great game and Murray does then he will look like an idiot in front of the entire NFL, even worse than stealing underwear if that's possible.

Character-wise, Murray is kicking his butt. He isn't escalating the talk because he knows what most of us know and what Randle needs desperately to learn. Great players don't have to spend time trying to convince you they are great or, even worse, their competition is overrated. The results will tell us everything we need to know.

This game is going to change a lot of opinions one way or another. I hope Randle's performance can cash the checks his mouth has been writing.

He's going to need a whole lot more than trash talk disguised as motivation. He had better be well prepared to perform at an elite level. You had best believe Murray will be brining his A game.

Who's pretending? Not playing badly is now the standard? How the mighty have fallen if that is the case.

My apologies for disturbing your delicate sensibilities. Randle is not so fragile that the heat of the spotlight will melt him to a piddle of hurt feelings, unlike his supporters.

What in the blazes are you talking about? Hurt feelings? Delicate sensibilities?

Nah it sounds more like you're the one with delicate sensibilities when someone points out that you made a really dumb joke/point/ whatever.

Randle still averaged over 4 yards a carry.

This was a game where he clearly was a little anxious and nervous. There were some missed holes and obviously he had trouble making people miss, but still overall he had a solid game. Didn't miss any key blocks and get Romo rocked. He had some good runs and clearly got better as the game went along once he settled his nerves.

Randle is a talented back. He's probably our best overall runner. Randle probably would've had over 100 rushing yards if we hadn't fallen behind. Between him and McFadden we have a solid 1/2 punch on the ground. They can both make people miss. Are explosive. He had trouble staying on his feet, but he's still got the speed to get to the edge. Whether he can get past those one on one tackles remains to be seen, but he has better vision than Murray and will pick the hole and make one cut and has the ability to take it to the house.

He's been here for two years so he knows the scheme and has a good raport with the offensive line. This is a guy who averaged over 6 yards a carry last season. You don't average that many yards a pop if you aren't a talented back. It's a different role for Randle, but he clearly is confident and is ready for a more advanced role. With both him and DMC we can keep both guys fresh and not overwork either. Both are good in the open field, have good hands, and like Randle can create mismatches with opposing linebackers.

I would love for Randle to handle his business, 15 to 18 carries, a 100 yard game, a few receptions, and a TD would go a long way towards curing overall fan anxiety about the RB position. If McFadden can add a respectable amount in 8 to 10 carries then the Cowboys are back to the balanced offense they created the previous season as well as dominating time of possession and resting the defense so they can play all out when called upon.

Last season illustrated that the best defense is a solid dependable, time consuming running game. Murray and the Eagles can't gain an inch sitting on the bench.

I think the fact that this is getting blown out of proportion is hilarious.

"Honey, I'm home!"

"Hi dear, how was your day?"

"Great! I won an argument about something a player said in an interview! His opinion didn't match mine so we went back and forth like high school girls talking trash about each others braids!"

No kidding. The running game was inadequate and it's comical the lengths people will go to convince themselves otherwise.

Whether he can get past those one on one tackles remains to be seen, but he has better vision than Murray and will pick the hole and make one cut and has the ability to take it to the house.

Randle went down on first contact and got tripped up too many times. He left those dirty yards on the field.

And what makes you believe Randle has better vision than Murray? Murray is the better all around back and has proven it. Right now, Randle is all talk and that's about the only thing, thus far, that he's done better than Murray.

Uhhhh ever heard of some guys named Barry Sanders or Thurman Thomas for Oklahoma St??

Or Adrian Peterson for OU?
Uhh. You don't recall just how often Bleu Star posted his desire for the team to acquire Peterson during the entire offseason?

Uhh. Do you not see where I embedded in my post, that you've replied to, this phrase: "Who am I kidding? Adrian Peterson wins in a landslide. That one's for you Bleu Star."

Uhh. Please accept my apology that there was zero need to include Sanders or Thomas's names within a thread of obvious context. :)

All the personal BS should be forgotten even before the first snap occurs. It's a team game. Personal agendas shouldn't play a part in any of this. I'm glad Randle is making an attempt to harness his talk. Anyhow, perhaps Randle gets to prove he's able to get more meat than Murray off of that bone he was talking about. It might add to the competitive fires for both of them but they shouldn't really need that to fire them up. Pride's a funny thing.

The drama of the first game was completely about receivers' missed catches, tipping throws and fumbles--with a few bad non-calls thrown in for good measure. The Giants capitalized on the mistakes and cashed in turnovers. So where does negative fan focus centers upon?

The running backs. Of course. Just like all offseason.

He only carried the ball 8 times everyone might want to wait until after Sundays game before getting too cocky.

Ok....but the fact is he ran for nine yards of those eight carries.
No one is getting cocky either, you made the comment about Randle leaving "plenty" on Sunday night. If it bothers you so much that people are stating facts, maybe the Eagles board would suit you better? I'm sure none of there delusional posts will involve any sort of reality.

That's leaving some meat on the bone. It certainly wasn't enough to keep Romo from attempting 45 passes. You would have to go back to the 2013 season for the last he attempted that many passes.

Most QB's that are playing from behind are going to pass more.

What was Dallas supposed to do? Run the clock out on themselves?

If we fall behind in a game game then guess what... We're gonna pass. Shocker I know.

Speaking for myself, last season I said Murray was leaving yards out on the field (meat on the bone) because there were literally dozens of plays where it was easy to see that Murray missed a cut-back that would have allowed him to gain more yards than he actually did. Had he run the right way he would have had considerably more yardage by the end of the season.

I never once said that because the play wasn't blocked well or because the defender simply made a good play, or even because Murray got run down from behind. When there where defenders hitting Murray at (or behind) the line of scrimmage, or catching up to him from behind, I never considered that leaving meat on the bone.

When Murray gained 3 yards and was brought down by 3 defenders, I never thought of that as leaving yards on the field.

When there was an obvious huge hole and Murray didn't hit it and instead went into a pack of defenders... that is when I said he was leaving yards.

So, I say all of that to say this: I didn't see Randle blatantly missing any holed Sunday night. I didn't see him have a cutback lane and not take it. He got about what any back would have gotten on those particular plays.

IMO, anyone saying that Randle left meat on the bone during the Giants game is incorrect. He got what was blocked and he didn't miss opportunities to gain more yards.

The biggest problem for the Dallas run game was that WR's kept dropping the ball - or fumbling it - and the Cowboys weren't in a position to run the ball a whole lot. Without those mistakes and turnovers, Dallas would have jumped out to a lead and would have run the ball down their throats.

Romo attempted 10 passes on the Cowboys opening drive. He had 18 passing attempts with the Cowboys up 6-3. He had 23 passing attempts by halftime when he averaged only 29 passing attempts last season. The Cowboys were right back to what they were doing prior to last season with Romo having to air it out due to an average running game. They'll struggle to win 9-10 games this season if it's going to be on Romo's shoulders every week to pull games out.
