Randle the New Marshawn?

I agree, he looked like the best RB on field, for either team. But 2.8 ypc is 2.8 ypc. This OL is supposed to make RBs look like gods, but so far, very pedestrian.

Well maybe the OL should actually do its job. Nobody can objectively look at the run blocking from last season and this season and not notice a huge difference, and not in a good way.

Sorry, I can't pretend that Randle is anything more than average. This is despite the fact that he's supposed to be playing behind a line that turns average backs into highly productive backs. Wasn't that the premise all along?

There have been 21 occasions from this season and the last combined where a RB has carried the ball 10 or more times in a game. Randle has done this three times, twice this season and once in the Colt game last season.

All three of his game average yards per carry are in the bottom eight of those 21 times. His best average so far is 4.08, less than the average for Murray's worst season.

McFadden is worst.

It's time to look at Christine Michael.

This is normal when a guy goes from being a change of pace back to the man. He fights for yards, but he just doesn't have the leg drive to power ahead after contact for the yards that Murray did.

I think his average will improve as the OL plays to their talent. Otherwise, his "meat on the bone" comments from the offseason will leave me with little compassion for the underwear thief.

I want to like Randle, but he comes off as a bit of a jerk, doesn't he?

Looked like he was biting back another quip on the Demarco Murray question. Glad he kept it buttoned up.

his interviews are starting to grow on me because they are so atypical.

I just have a feeling that Michael will not be able to show us what he has until midseason. that's if he is still on the team.

I would agree that it's too early to come to conclusions as to the effectiveness of the running game.

I think that one aspect that is generally overlooked is the familiarity between the RB and his line. Each of them are more confident in their movements when they have played together for a while. They get into a rhythm and can anticipate each other's moves. Their timing is more synchronized. It's why you see both Murray and Randle struggling in the early part of the season.

I have not bothered to read this thread, just here to laugh at the thread title.

So last year Murray's 3.0 against the Eagles meant that our OL was very pedestrian and failed to make Murray look good? Im confused.

You can take medicine for that now, I hear it's very effective for those easily confused. Are you seriously comparing Murray's production in his first 2 games in 2014 with Randle's and not seeing the difference? Again, look into treating that condition while you can.

OL work in unison with the RB. Even the Geat Wall of the 90's did not fare as well when Emmitt was out. It is ironic and a little sad that this lesson was not learned by Jerry the first time around.

Oh, you are asking if I am comparing apples to oranges? No, actually I am comparing apples to apples. Murray against the Eagles front 7 vs. Randle against the Eagles front 7. Hey, but if you want to compare that pear in your hand to the avocado on your head, be my guest.

Not apples to apples at all. That Philly team last year was a better team. Both offense and defense.

I disagree. They are at least as good against the run this year as they were last. In fact, they arguably sold out against it with Dez being out more than last year. Although they did the same last year too.

Different product, different season, different players. Just like Cowboys are different team in 2015 vs. 2014 so are the Eagles.

It's time to see what C-Mich can do. Enough with the Randle and DMC experiment.

If nothing else let C-Mich be the every down back and pound the rock and let Randle come in relief like he did last season and was somewhat successful.

Right now I'm much higher on Dunbar, who at least has shown something, than I am on the first two.

Well that's a convenient line of argument. But I still disagree. Eagles looked better this year up front to me. The jury is still out on Dallas' running game.

I will tell you this though. If we play the Falcons and have no or few turnovers and reasonable penalties, and cannot run well over a 100 yards and control the game then I might have some concerns. However, if we run for 150 against the Falcons and wear their defense down in the 4th quarter, then you need to show respect.

So you're saying the OL hasn't been opening holes because Randle sucks? I see piss poor OLs open up holes much better for as bad or worse RBs every weekend. And if they aren't opening holes for any reason that has to do with Randle then they need to take a long hard look in the mirror and then go out and do their own job.

Bottom line is if they don't do better Randle won't be having a good season and neither will any other RB they could have gotten. I would love to see what the yards before contact looked like against the Eagles. I'm betting it's miniscule if not close to zero. Right now we don't even know what Randle can do. I look forward to this OL taking its rightful place at the head of the table Sunday.
