Random dumb thoughts

1) I thought Collins performed admirably for his first game at RT against a stud DE. He did have that one hold and got beat another time, but other than that, not a bad first game.

2) Smith wasn't awesome but knowing where he was coming from to where he is now, an impressive performance. And it looks like he has some of that speed back. His running down that reverse looked like the guy I saw at ND. His sideline to sideline pursuit at ND was amazing. The more he gets hit and gets comfortable with the leg, the better he should get. In a few weeks, he might end being a true three down LB with Lee.

3) Bad blow for Scandrick. He should be fine in a few weeks but this guy just can't seem to stay healthy. Hopefully Lewis is ready this weekend and Awuzie is fine as it looked like he injured himself at the end of the game. Awuzie played pretty well based on what I saw. Seems to have really good anticipation skills.

4) I know the Giants OL is awful but I thought the DL did a really nice job. Lawrence was a machine and I thought Paea and Collins really did a nice job inside. Charlton was a non factor but welcome to the party Charles Tapper.

5) Yeah, I don't get the hype some here have for Alfred Morris. He seems to always have nice camps and then is just blah in the regular season. Unless McFadden is hurt, he should be the #2.

6) I thought the play calling was awful at times. I don't like this whole "feed the ball to Dez before he gets upset" crap ruins any flow we have. That one series when we threw three times from like the 3 yard line pissed me off. Granted, if Dak makes a better throw, he does have a TD to Bryant on one of those passes. But three passes from the three is just Linehan and Garrett getting too cute for their own good.

7) Switzer needs some work on kick returns.

8) Does Byron Jones get at least one penalty on special teams every game?

How about some love for your guy Nolan Carroll?

Not important now, but I thought we lost Zeke for the season somewhere near the middle of the 4th qtr. There was a run where he got stopped but someone came in and bent him backwards. I saw it happening and grabbed the wifes leg squeezing saying "stoppppp" "it's gonna break". I saw that kneee take about as much stress as one could without losing some ligaments :(

Totally disagree with your comment 'Smith wasn't awesome'. That was one of the better performances from a 'boy's LB, over the past few years, not named Lee. He wasn't afraid to lay the wood and his speed to track down plays was awesome. That 'down by contact' play, where he caused the fumble, was bogus. Jaylen was awesome especially for someone who went through the crap that he did.
Gotta disagree. What Lawrence Taylor used to do was awesome. He would take over games on D. I was very encouraged by jaylons performance. I have a much higher standard for awesome.

Let's not judge the #2 rb on such a small sample size. Even Zeke's yards were difficult to come by against such a stout front. 4-5 attempts aren't that much. Morris and Dmac are pretty much interchangeable at the end of the day but I prefer Alf

Disagreed. Dmac is a legitimate 3 down back that doesn't require a change in offensive play calling .

AM cannot pass block or catch and is a liability in those aspects.

I'm not saying dmac is as good as EE but there is less of a drop off when dmac is RB2

I prefer neither of them touching the ball. Not one of them does a single thing better than Zeke on the field. Feed the young man. Stop taking our best offensive weapon off the field.

Ummm...this is a DALLAS COWBOY forum in case you're lost. Nothing Lawrence Taylor did would be deemed 'awesome' in my book. He played for an enemy and he was an enemy. So, I would have to say that your 'much higher standard' awesome is a lot lower than you think. Now, if you would have noted Emmitt, Troy, Roger, etc. as had done something awesome, I could get behind it.

Google is your friend. Start by entering 'NY Giant's message board' into the search bar and you'll find your 'awesome' home in no time!!! :lmao::p

Over the last few years, Dez's catch percentage has been terrible. He's still bad at route running and can't get open. He's only good for an occasional slant and jump balls on fades.

He was pretty wide open on that slant in the end zone.

I get the feeling that they want to save McFadden in case the Zeke suspension happens this season. No need to risk him to injury if they don't need to. Just a feeling.

Wow this a cowboys board my bad. So in your galacticly ignorant world only the cowboys have had great players. You need "the Google" far more than I do pal. Try greatest nfl line backers in your Lil search see what you get. Oh and as far as rooting bona fides go. Born in 66 cowboys fan as long as I can remember so get off my lawn. The difference is I can recognize other teams might just have great players too. Sometimes and don't tell anyone, they are even better than my cowboys. I would love to agree with you but then we would both be wrong. Done with you.

Quit passing more than running.
When you have 10 seconds in the half, and you're up, throw it deep. Then kick if needed.
When you're up in the 4th, quit snapping the ball with 10+seconds on the play clock. Bush Red, Bush.

On the bright side, we played maybe the toughest defense we'll likely face all year.

This is going to be fun!

Here's a random thought: NYFG and Seattle, two teams with great defenses and horrible OLs, and both get handled. What's more important, spending cap space on D or OL?

Trying to force feed Dez is so old. Who cares if he gets upset. He's not as important to this offense as so many think. In fact, I thought this offense without him last year was much more crisp than when he was in the lineup.

And yes, playcalling is still horrid in the redzone. 1st and goal from the 2 and three straight passes, trying to force feed Dez? Terrible.

Alfred Morris is the anti-Anthony Brown. Great in practice, but seems lackluster in-game, Syd

Nolan Carrol looked pretty decent last night. Especially in run support a couple of times.
We just might have a decent secondary this year, Idg. Even with OScan missing a couple games. Some teams are thin (Eagles), we seem to be deep.

I think we'll finish with a top-ten D (total yds). And with this O, that could propel us, at least, past the Division Round
