If you take off your blue and orange colored glasses, it really doesn't look so bad.

There were lots of subs out there today, and the play of some gives direction for the draft and free agency. The team has high picks, compensatory picks, and cap room.

The real question is if there's any chance for new OC, ST, DB, and WR coaches.

I would Prefer new coaches at DB, RB, WR, S&C. Develop some young players and also to keep them healthy.

Jones is no bust.

I don't think he's a bust either but I don't see him materializing into anything other than a middle of the pack DB. He's good enough to where I can see him hanging around the league for 10 seasons but I don't ever see him being a difference maker. Which is what most sane people assessed going into the draft.

Unfortunately the Cowboys valued combine stats over on the field performance so it's looking like they're the latest team to fall in love with an average player who's nothing more than a workout warrior.

While you may be right, he can still develop into something special with proper teaching.

Backup QB for Rams winning 17-0 in Seattle in a game Seattle needs for playoff positioning.

But I'm not talking about coaching at all I'm just pointing out an interesting factoid about another NFL game.

It is amazing to see what other teams can do with backup QBs, probably just the overall football environment within the organization.

It is his rookie season and at a very difficult position to transition to. Mabye you should be realistic with your assessment?

I know that on some of the plays that moore had today the wrs screwed him with drops but other plays he looked completely overmatched. moore is not a starting nfl qb. I am no means an expert but I would not even waste time on him to be a backup. he is another Brandon weeden qb. I bet he pulls out a win against the Commanders since they will be in preseason mode next week. we need a young qb who can read a defense and win games and not be a dink and dunk qb someone who is capable of completing passes down the field.

Believing Pollock would have picked up where Callahan left off was fool's gold/pure poppycock. The O-line has regressed. They looked okay today in pass/run, barring the foot-shooting penalties, but over the course of the season, it was largely bush-league performances as a whole. Too many big play/drive-killing penalties. Callahan sucked as an OC, but he instilled discipline on the O-line.

All teams value combine stats, or why else bother with them.
And he is a rookie, playing 4 different positions and hard positions to learn and transition too in the NFL.

I think this team has finally broken me. Coming into today I had zero excitement anticipating this game. And I am always excited to watch the team. Today I just sat there like I was catatonic. No emotion at all. the product is just unwatchable from both sides of the ball. I am seriously considering skipping next week's game. I never miss one but this slop fest of a team is embarrassing to watch as a fan. But they get a probable pass from the owner because 9 went down. Which is a joke.

True. Certain teams like the Patriots do a great job coaching up their DBs.

Over the years our DB coaches have rarely impressed me. Our DBs will pull out a great year every 4 years or so, but the year to year consistency is lacking. Resources have always been spent on the position so we've had talent back there. You have to look at the coaches (defensive) and their schemes.

I think what you mean to say is coaching had nothing to do with performance in 2014. But coaching has everything to do with performance in 2015.

Or, more succinctly, you will blame for being bad and give no credit for being good.

Now that I've translated the argument, it seems pretty silly.

That goes both ways.

Some people want to give credit to the coaches for the 2014 yet they think the coaches had nothing to do with the three 8-8 seasons and this season.

Indeed, it is very silly.

Or maybe because more is a 4th string QB coming off the PS.
Cassel seemed to be a good deal at the time, and most teams would have made that if in the same situation.
Weeden was just horrible judgment in hindsight. Though they still should have addressed the situation.

And those other teams have a better overall team to help. It is not an excuse by no means, but there are other issues in play too.

I think today the defense looked good over all. Got a couple of turn overs. Kept the opponents to 9 points till the last 10 minutes of the game and then ended up at 16. Didn't do enough to close out the game. Dline was good. Lee was good, McClain was mediocre. CB was inconsistent but over all not bad. S was alright but nothing special, Jones was alright. Church had a couple of plays. Wilcox was basically Wilcox, a good play backed by several that make you say what was he thinking.

The offense was horrible. I think its mostly QB related because over all I'd say the other parts of the offense were alright. The Line blocked pretty well for the most part. The WR corps was decent over all. TE was basically non existent, I think by Buffalo's game plan. RB was fine and got what the line blocked pretty much. The WR did drop some balls, but I've pretty much come to believe with non WR1 type of players that's just going to happen. Moore lacks arm talent, but can work with it when he's making accurate close in throws. Today it felt like he wasn't.

Basically, I'd say there's nothing I can point to and say its the reason we lost today outside of, maybe, QB play.

We are still in the hunt for a top ten draft pick

If we win next week, Jason will have a Campo record for the season at 5-11

If we lose next week, Jason Wil have a worse season than Campo

No matter if we win or not, people can no longer claim he has never had a losing season as they have tried to say with his 8-8 seasons.

While Kellen Moore might be more exciting to watch than Weeden or Cassel.... He is not the future starting QB for the Cowboys... He might be a future 2nd or 3rd stringer...maybe.

This team needs more offensive talent and a healthy Romo to win. It is clear we will not win due to coaching... If we win, We will win due to talent inspite of the coaching schemes on offense.

The FO needs to have learned a lesson this year... You can't just plug any RB behind this oline and expect it to be a success.

The lights have came on and are shining bright for DLaw.

How odd is it that back to back games the team gets ints from basically practice squad players

It was about 75 degrees with wind and rain in my part of WV today... Crazy for this time of year but seemed odd to see players in cold weather gear after I was out in the warm weather today. Heck if not for the rain I was going to mow today. I thought mowing a couple of days after Thanksgiving would be all it needed but with this weather I guess I was wrong.

With this crappy season does anyone find themselves in a a nonplussed meh kind of mood even after a great or terrible play? I used to curse or yell and fist pump. Now I might say meh or blow a half hearted raspberry toward the screen.

This mess of a season is almost over... Which mean the draft info and talk will start up. I love reading and talking about the draft prospects and frankly is about the only shows I watch or listen to on DC. Com I hope we get more people to join us in the draft zone when it starts heating up.

Ok... Throw out some of your random thoughts.

Good insight from you as always!
