Byron Jones can turn into a Malcome Jenkins type of safety for us. A guy who maily play free safety but who can also play the slot and CB in a pinch.
He's far from being a bust.
We've been two players away for "two decades".My thought is: This team is two players away on defense (Sam LB and playmaking safety) and, not including Romo, two players away on offense (blue chip RB and playmaking TE) from being a legit playoff team/Super Bowl contender. The key, though, would be Romo staying healthy.

It was not the answer and it was Part of the problem. We did not go through a multitude of RBs this year because was not aproblem.
That's just the frustration talking. We were a lot more than 2 more players away most of the past 20 years.
I am not sure we are only two away now(and we may well be at a peak of 5 or 6 away during the pre-draft off-season), but this group is farther along than many.
What I do know is the team has been fortunate to lose a lot late rather than win a few to close the year to somehow end up with 7 or 8 wins and fool's gold.
At this this group will get high draft picks in round 1-4 plus a very nice supplemental haul.
I lived through those 5-11 Campo teams and they were all far worse.
This team should have 3 top 75 picks. That is very useful.
We've been plugging up the leaks in the boat for years, we need a new boat.

A new boat = New coach with lower parts to tell the GM to bud out. We can start there. The NFL very rarely works that way. And when it does it is a 3-5 year process.
This team has far too much talent to simply reboot.
But it does need changes.
With 3 high picks and the QB, WR and top CB all coming back healthy I'll take my shot in 2016.

It ain't happening. Unless if half the stadium is empty next week and we get embarrassed on the field. Even then I doubt it.
We are still in the hunt for a top ten draft pick
If we win next week, Jason will have a Campo record for the season at 5-11
If we lose next week, Jason Wil have a worse season than Campo
No matter if we win or not, people can no longer claim he has never had a losing season as they have tried to say with his 8-8 seasons.
While Kellen Moore might be more exciting to watch than Weeden or Cassel.... He is not the future starting QB for the Cowboys... He might be a future 2nd or 3rd stringer...maybe.
This team needs more offensive talent and a healthy Romo to win. It is clear we will not win due to coaching... If we win, We will win due to talent inspite of the coaching schemes on offense.
The FO needs to have learned a lesson this year... You can't just plug any RB behind this oline and expect it to be a success.
The lights have came on and are shining bright for DLaw.
How odd is it that back to back games the team gets ints from basically practice squad players
It was about 75 degrees with wind and rain in my part of WV today... Crazy for this time of year but seemed odd to see players in cold weather gear after I was out in the warm weather today. Heck if not for the rain I was going to mow today. I thought mowing a couple of days after Thanksgiving would be all it needed but with this weather I guess I was wrong.
With this crappy season does anyone find themselves in a a nonplussed meh kind of mood even after a great or terrible play? I used to curse or yell and fist pump. Now I might say meh or blow a half hearted raspberry toward the screen.
This mess of a season is almost over... Which mean the draft info and talk will start up. I love reading and talking about the draft prospects and frankly is about the only shows I watch or listen to on DC. Com I hope we get more people to join us in the draft zone when it starts heating up.
Ok... Throw out some of your random thoughts.
He's going to be a good one

You're probably 95% right, and Jerry would rather sink with the ship instead of admitting he made a mistake. He cares nothing about the legend of the Cowboys and have held us hostage and taking money from fans for years. Money sure does equate to evil huh? Anyways, he'll keep plugging this guy in and that guy in until one day the ship is at the bottom of the ocean. It ain't happening. Unless if half the stadium is empty next week and we get embarrassed on the field. Even then I doubt it.
