When Gregory was last in the field he was the best DL in Dallas. It’s 100 pct true. He was a beast for a stretch. Seemed to get better every week. I hope the guy wants it.

Agreed. Plus I think he was well coached in college. He knows how to play. People forget he was a top 10 talent coming out. A much better player than Lawrence.

He’s also not a bad person by all accounts. He has never hurt anyone other than himself.

Sadly just has mental health and substance use issues. It would be great if he can keep them controlled enough to keep playing under the new CBA.

Yeah I still root for Gregory. He has no knucklehead in him. A smart guy that has an issue. I think we are about to see the best of him.

With Aldon Smith reinstated, Randy Gregory remains in the return process, according to his agent, Peter Schaffer. Gregory, who applied for reinstatement after Smith, has had multiple violations of the substance-abuse policy since 2015. “We are very happy for Alden and wish him all the luck in the world and a successful resumption of his career,” Schaffer said. “It’s refreshing to see the NFL following through on their stated goal to focus more on rehabbing players than punishing players.”

This statement is enlightening. The last time we heard anything about Gregory applying for reinstatement was last summer right before training camp. We never heard anything about it since even though the Cowboys gave him a contract extension. Now we here he applied after Smith which I thought was just a few weeks ago.

Maybe someone can chime in and help me understand what am I missing.
