Well, how 'bout we call it a career and concede that we blew a high pick tilting at a windmill? The guy's talent is definitely tantalizing, but these sorts of risks aren't worth the return with our premium picks.

I could not have said it better. Just my opinion here, but I think Jerry's ego makes him feel compelled to go out on these limbs to take big risks...just in case he hits on one so people can credit him with a steal. But when they backfire, it hurts.

http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.co...-treatment-facility-facing-longer-suspension/

Defensive end Randy Gregory will miss the first four games of the 2016 season while serving a four-game suspension for violating the league’s substance-abuse policy, but the terms of the ban allowed him to practice and play for the Cowboys in the preseason.

It appears that won’t be happening, however. Ed Werder of ESPN reports that Gregory haschecked into a treatment facility and will not be reporting to Cowboys camp, which opens later this week.

There are no specific details about what led Gregory to check into the facility, but Werder’s colleague Adam Schefter reports that Gregory has violated the substance-abuse policy again and now faces an extended suspension. Whatever the term of that suspension, Gregory’s history of problems in this area will make it hard to count on getting anything from him in 2016 or beyond.

That’s not great news for a Cowboys defense that’s also without defensive endDemarcus Lawrence for four games and linebacker Rolando McClain for 10 games as they serve suspensions of their own.

Agree with the earlier comments that 2016 is off the table at this point. Just stupid these guys would rather get high than makes millions

So the next time draft rolls around and someone says...Hey it is just Mary Jane...or Hey we need some bad boys on the team...slap them.

There is a difference between a player making or getting busted for Mary Jane once vs players that have had trouble with it multiple times.

There was a difference between Shane Ray who was dumb enough to get caught with mary jane before the draft...vs Randy Gregory who failed multiple times in college to the point that coaches asked them to quit testing him.

I said during that draft he was the ONE player I hope we passed on because he was a suspension waiting to happen.

Getting him where we got him was a plus but in the end when you draft someone expecting them to start at a position and he can not because of drug suspensions, it hurts the team.

SMH, who didn't see this coming though really though? If I was really cynical, I would have put a nice wager on it happening again a few months ago.
