Randy Gregory Checks In to Treatment Facility, failed another drug test

I am going to take a different tact here.

Don't cut him. Just let him go through rehab and see what happens. No, you don't count on him to be a starting DE for you so you draft and approach free agency accordingly but you don't cut him.

Because frankly it would be typical Dallas if you cut him, the rehab takes and he goes on to be a good player for someone else. We had to swallow his crap for two years, we might as well see if there's something at the bottom of this barrel of stench.

Well, although everybody is pissed today I think you're probably right. You have to just to set him aside and move on without him and if by some miracle he can fix his demons you can still use him because he's so young. Plus he'll be dirt cheap. He has to be so far out of sight and out of mind until one day it's, "Oh, Randy Gregory is back, whatever." It's the only way to deal with it.

As you said you can't just let him go because nothing would be worse than releasing him, he gets past rehab, matures, signs with the Giants at 25 and haunts us of the other 8 years of his career.

He kind of nailed it and caught a lot of heat.

Rather than calling him more names, maybe just give him props. If another guy with sources posted something and was right about it (finally) you guys would break your arms patting him on the back.

Sucks for us as fans though. Possibly another valuable resource (2nd round pick) wasted.

He's a troll. Though he wasn't the one who brought this particular rumor over and he wasn't trolling CZ in this case, obviously. Either way, his fake rumor was a month off and wasn't real.

"You guys" is a caricature you apparently choose to buy into that doesn't really exist. If someone brings info, it's appreciated. If they bring a rumor and label it a rumor, we'll talk about it a bit. I can't remember the last time anybody got an enthusiastic pat on the back for bringing 'inside info' to a thread. But like any forum anywhere, we all treat that type of content as something to talk about and to take with a grain of salt. We're adults here. Nobody really cares if somebody gets wind of a story earlier than anybody else. We're just happy to have something to talk about.

I hate this clown....didn't like hkm at NU, hated that we drafted his sorry dope-headed self, and angry that we passed on that freak from Michigan that went to Seattle.

I am so sick of us drafted oft-injured, dope-headed, or project players......to Hell with the Jones Boys and Garrett.

I suspect Garrett is ticked, as I doubt he was the player he wanted there.
Same as bringing Hardy in
Same as bringing Manziel in--which luckily they didn't but would have

Could you imagine how good Tyler Locket would be opposite of Dez and also returning kicks?

Sure hope Mayowa is as good as Broaddus and others seem to think he is.

Probably so. As someone who did, it wasn't a hard prediction to make. The NFL all but sends a memo out when they test and if you can't pass it, you have an addiction.

tough to say that about marijuana - stays in your system far longer than most drugs - if a guy knows he's getting tested next week, he can lay off the crack and pee clean. Not really the case with weed. Ironic in that it is pretty harmless and does have some reasonable medical uses

He doesn't want to play football.. It's obvious now.

He is a selfish selfish person that only cares about himself just like McClain.

The guy has a family now, just like McClain, and can't put them before his weed smoking habbit. I have no respect for someone like that.

You and I don't seem to agree on much...but on topic here, we sure do.

I don't feel any remorse in letting his arse catching the door on his way out.

Go through the real world flipping burgers, you overly talented zero. He liked the lifestyle, but most, even in college...catch on to the differences in sport and on the street. He likes the street so well, leave him there...he's already in drug rehab.

until the owner the dallas cowboys fires the gm of the dallas cowboys this is what happens there has to be changes or we are stuck with this for years we have already wasted tony and Jason time here now working on wasting this really good offensive line we have built.

Sure hope Mayowa is as good as Broaddus and others seem to think he is.

Even if he is opposing offenses will shut him down with a quickness due to a lack of threat on Mayowa's opposite side

to many of them, they will be happy to bask in the glow of being right. Probably were rooting for this to happen so they could crow about it.

I take no joy from seeing a guy throw his career away. You sat there making excuses for him and already seeing you making claims of how harmless weed is yet Gregory is willing to throw it all away over something as stupid as weed. Yeah I forgot he has a mental problem, well Cowboys do not have time to deal with mental problems this is a football team not a halfway house.

Weird on how all of the suspensions are on the defensive side of the ball.

I agree with you but it's also just as pathetic that he can't put it down for his family, his team, and all of the fans cheering for him.

I've said this before. This is related to his mental health issues - people with mental health problems often use weed and other drugs to feel more normal. Yes, he's gt a drug problem but there is an underlying cause that is not being addressed adequately. of course, that's the story with most addictions. This goes beyond the old 'dude likes to party' story. I expect that him having a new baby caused considerable stress which led to making bad decisions again. Really common story unfortunately.

Cut him. I have no remorse for players like this or for the front office making the stupid decision to draft him.

Have some compassion. He obviously can't control himself like most drug users. The Cowboys might just release him but, he's really
got a mountain to climb and you have to feel sorry for someone with those demons constantly pulling at you. It's sad to see some of these
kids with no real upbringing trying to grow up in a cruel, cold world.

Pointing out that he has mental health issues that are likely the underlying cause of his behavior is not "making excuses"- It is trying to educate some of you people about mental health.

Yeah, I think it's up to 30 days for heavy smokers, idk, maybe more these days. back in the 70s and 80s probably half the NFL would have been suspended,ha

I agree he has problems but I also know this is a football team and he is costing the cowboys. I hate to see this happening to him I really do but this franchise has to start doing what it right by the team and the fans. Dallas continues to give chances to players and they continue to spit in the face of the organization as they continue to blow those chances. Enough already

Treatment center for weed .......

Reminds me of the Half-baked scene with Dave Chappell and Bob Saget.

I recall a lot of folks predicting this would happen before camp.

As someone who is for legalization, when I hear folks say it's not addictive I just roll my eyes

Im also for it and can not stand the hypocrisy from govt and the pharmaceutical industry but if theres is any physical dependency that is news to me. I believe Gregory's problem has alot more to do with not caring enough about playing football.
