LOL, you are using facts?

They handed him a sheet of paper that if he had signed it, would have locked the Cowboys into a long term deal that we might be regretting now. It's possible if Gregory were back, we may not have taken Sam Williams, for example, in the 2nd round.

If they didn't want him, they could have either just pulled the contract or not offered it in the first place. All the Cowboys were doing was trying to limit downside if he went back to smoking pot. That's basically it. The contract language wasn't about whether or not he'd play well. It was simply about whether he'd relapse and go wonky on us. If he had agreed to that, we'd have signed him for a large contract. And then when he went out and played as mediocre as he did for Denver, we'd have another bad contract on the books.

This spin to try to make it sound like the Cowboys were smart here is hilarious but expected from the homer crowd. If they were smart, they never would have offered him a contract that large in the first place.
The problem with your argument is Randy really didn't play bad at all with Denver, he was just hardly on the field, part of which was due to suspension which is exactly why the Cowboys wanted the language in the contract.

His numbers are pretty good.

172 snaps (Parsons played around 900 for comparison)
11 tackles
2 forced fumbles
2 sacks
12 hurries
20 pressures

I'm glad the Cowboys moved on, but I think there is a difference in bringing him back as Denver did and bringing him back with added language to the contract. I wish we knew the specifics of what it covered, but in theory, the Cowboys managed this right.

He was suspended in Denver? For what? Why don’t I remember this?

He got nothing right.

He tried to sign him for like $70 million. The only thing that saved him was that Gregory got pissy over contract language.

We got lucky, plain and simple.
This ^^^^^^^ yea more luck than anything else.

Did he get it right?
You want to give Jerry credit for Randy deciding not to take the Cowboys offer that was the same as the Broncos offer?
Yup. Jerry tried to give the dude 75 mil. The worst part is that he has certainly learned nothing from it and will continue to overpay our own.

Can we all agree that Jerry got it right with "El Paso"...? We were going to pay the man top edge rushing dollar but only if he conformed to our rules and didn't get in trouble and he balked...
That's what I was saying last year. They added by subtracting...even with Cooper.

This is the tarot fool card of Jerry Jones that I mentioned in the past.

That was a contract that smelled bad, I'm glad we got lucky and it fell through.

But easier to mock the broncos for matching and him leaving. but go ahead try and "BE RIGHT" hater fan a season in the past long over its over LET IT GO. The credit is for adding and refusing to take out the controversial clause that pushed RG out..yes that correct credit.
It sounds like you are the one trying to be right and can't it let it go -- why does anyone feel this strongly about Gregory still? I'll give Jerry credit for not taking out that clause but he still offered him big dollars. Seems like Denver bails us out of a lot of bad decisions we are trying to make (see Paxton Lynch).

They paid him to be great. He wasn’t.

And no Dallas didn’t play it right. They were willing to overpay for a non-elite DE.

If they didn’t want him, they wouldn’t have offered or pulled the one they made. They got a gift when Gregoryand his agent had an issue with language in the contract.

Trying to sell this as a shrewd move by the FO is bizarre.

If you take out a four game stretch in 2021, games #5 - #8, he had one sack in the remaining eight games in which he participated.

In retrospect, sounds like we offered a bad deal and lucked out that some other team outbid us.

What kind of comp pick did we get for Randy?

4 or 5? Good deal either way.

You just admitted in a post Gregory didn't sign because they didn't like the language in the contract. THAT THE COWBOYS FRONT OFFICE HAD PUT IN. I'll bet you right now the Broncos are wishing they would of put that language into their offer. Just not as smart as the front office of the forum you are some reason posting on.
