The problem with your argument is Randy really didn't play bad at all with Denver, he was just hardly on the field, part of which was due to suspension which is exactly why the Cowboys wanted the language in the contract.LOL, you are using facts?
They handed him a sheet of paper that if he had signed it, would have locked the Cowboys into a long term deal that we might be regretting now. It's possible if Gregory were back, we may not have taken Sam Williams, for example, in the 2nd round.
If they didn't want him, they could have either just pulled the contract or not offered it in the first place. All the Cowboys were doing was trying to limit downside if he went back to smoking pot. That's basically it. The contract language wasn't about whether or not he'd play well. It was simply about whether he'd relapse and go wonky on us. If he had agreed to that, we'd have signed him for a large contract. And then when he went out and played as mediocre as he did for Denver, we'd have another bad contract on the books.
This spin to try to make it sound like the Cowboys were smart here is hilarious but expected from the homer crowd. If they were smart, they never would have offered him a contract that large in the first place.
His numbers are pretty good.
172 snaps (Parsons played around 900 for comparison)
11 tackles
2 forced fumbles
2 sacks
12 hurries
20 pressures
I'm glad the Cowboys moved on, but I think there is a difference in bringing him back as Denver did and bringing him back with added language to the contract. I wish we knew the specifics of what it covered, but in theory, the Cowboys managed this right.
