This conversation has been going on for 3 months in various threads. I've mentioned it many times. Sorry, I put skeptical in quotes.
So, I will let you know what my position is and explain how this all started. It will probably be long but and you can choose not to read it but at least you will know. If you choose to keep believing I'm off my rocker, then so be it.
After I joined, someone made a thread asking if anyone had heard anything about Gregory. I essentially laid out the following:
- TMZ reported Gregory failed a test
- Jerry was skeptical of the report
- Gregory was eligible to apply for reinstatement on November 6th and decided not to
- Nobody knows why
Because I mentioned TMZ reported Gregory failed a test, many people jumped down my throat claiming that there was no way that could be true. This spun off various arguments as people tried to justify TMZ being BS using excuses like the NFL would have reported it. I never cared if they believed the report or not, but would let them know the NFL wouldn't report it because they only report it when discipline is doled out and Gregory was already banished.
Other arguments that spawned had to deal with the timing of when Gregory could apply for reinstatement, whether there was a ban for life penalty and how long Goodell can take before making a decision. I cited and linked the actual drug policy to provide the information related to those topics, all the while being thought of some idiot, while just trying to share and receive information about Gregory. My referencing the actual policy was a joke yet someone hearing or reading something on Twitter was supposed to be more credible most of the time. Some times the people were thankful for getting the information from the policy.
Then Quincy would pop in other Gregory threads stating as fact the TMZ report was fake and requested that I prove the TMZ report was true. I always responded that I never passed it off as fact, that I didn't know if it were true or not, and I asked where he is getting that fact it is fake from and to share his source. He finally shared a source today, from a report today. I thanked him for that information earlier in this thread.
So, here is my position
- I want Gregory to return
- There is *some* reason he hasn't applied for reinstatement and we don't know why, but 5.5 months after being eligible doens't make since.
- That reason is NOT because he has to wait for the new league year to start
In the absence of information being shared, we can only speculate. It is of MY OPINION, that he has probably not been clean. Based upon the information available to us, that seemed to me to be the most likely reason. Not only is it my OPINION that the TMZ report is probably true, I wouldn't be surprised to find out he failed a test late last year which caused a set back that was reported last October when it was said he may need additional counseling or rehab stint.
My opinion could be entirely wrong and I'm not married to it or close minded about it that I won't change it based upon new information that becomes available. For example. today it was just reported that Gregory may be waiting to file for reinstatement because if he gets denied he will have to wait 6 months to file again and then there is no timeline for when the NFL needs to make a decision. This is the first good explanation I have received in all these Gregory debates.
Now, I don't care if anyone agrees with either the facts I have shared or my opinions on the Gregory situation. Facts are facts and opinions can turn out to be right or wrong depending upon how things play out. But I believe none of what I have shared has been unreasonable.
