Randy Gregory Update

I don't know why people are concerned about his contract and how long we hold his rights.

I think the suspended time does not count, but I have not devoted enough time to even bother to research it.

If we get any production out of him at this stage, it is a bonus.

Here is a question.
Once Gregory is back, who on the 90 man roster is released to make room for him.

One of the too many DE’s, an OL, DB, WR. Or anyone else?
The 17th DL?
The 12th WR?
The 7th RB?
The backup deep snapper or kicker?

Everyone else is doing dope, beating women, and getting arrested and only getting 2-3 days.

Cowboys get 6 games to years in suspension. Some complete BS goin' on
Say what you want about the DV suspensions and what not, Gregory's drug suspension seems very much in line with what happened with Josh Gordon.

I don't cry foul on this one.

There are probably as many as 20 who could be released today without a care.

Yeah, easily that many.
Jist thought I would throw it out there. May cause some to have deep thoughts. :muttley:

This.

It's a freaking drug test with clearly defined penalties for each positive.

In cases like this the league nearly always takes as much time as they can. That allows the to keep testing and simply deny reinstatement if there is not compliance rather that reinstating then having to suspend again.

It's just basic logic folks.

Everyone who tests positive received the same punishment. It is defined in the CBA.

With drug suspensions and even PEDs, it seems more uniform.

The DV thing? Forget about it.

Don't know if you know much about first black heavyweight champion Jack Johnson. A reporter, trying to get a rise out of Jack asked why a white woman would date a black man. Jack did so when such a thing was unheard of. Jack smiled, looked him right in the eyes and answered "because we eat eels and have deep thoughts". The reporter left dumbfounded. Jack was more entertaining than Ali and 40+ years earlier.

The DV thing hasn't really been tested enough to say. I do think that it is harder to get clear facts and the league is willing to negotiate settlements to avoid Zeke-like issues moving forward though.

Also, it's a different animal. Drug testing is a bit more cut and dry as far as evidence goes

I think the DV thing should have been handled after the Ray Rice debacle. But it wasn't. It seemed to ebb and flow with public opinion to the state it is now where the league just wants to negotiate instead of adjudicate. Just pathetic.

1hko a woman in a fast-food restaurant, on camera -- you get to play out the gate Joe Mixon

Smoke some weed -- you lose a year and a half of your NFL career, Randy Gregory.

Yup. Sounds about right.

He was a Freshman in college.....how does that relate to the NFL?

RGregory was high at the Combine.... that is when the rules start

It doesn't. Just showing that while some folks can play, hell, use Jameis as an example, after committing what many in society would deem more serious, our guy gets a long vacation for what many in society deem less serious.

But Night, you and I already know where we stand here. I got you, bro.

The NFLPA and NFL made this rule. Not SCOTUS.

Weed will be allowed after the next CBA. It should have been allowed in the last. YES, I KNOW IT WASN'T AND RG GOT "WHAT HE DESERVED"

(Last paragraph not directed at you, Night)

Ummm because it is very relevant........ try to ketchup

FYI - we have his rights for 3 more years, the 3rd being a RFA

Serious question. Has Randy Gregory, in his brief time on the field in the NFL, shown any more potential than Charles Tapper has in his even more brief time on the field?

14 games. 1 sack.

RGregory has at least 6 failed tests for a drug that is still Federally illegal and illegal in TX

Can't really sugar coat it......the League rules are black and white

It is getting pretty hard to argue that the NFL isn't taking DV seriously

I say YES by a mile

I have seen nothing from Tapper and have seen the body, the moves and the potential in RGregory

He was a legit Top10 pass rusher coming out of college and a perfect bend edge rusher
