I am more amazed at the difference in talent from the NFC to AFC

Dak has never played in a playoff game. To put him over a 2x super bowl winning QB is asinine.

Eli is much better in the playoffs than he is in the regular season.

That's not true. Eli is very mediocre in the playoffs, just like the regular season.

There is no way I take Eli over Dak. Romo is a completely different story.

I don't know, but after Brady and Rodgers none of them are going to carry their team.
There are some good quarterbacks in the NFC playoffs this year.

I'd rank them.....

1. Aaron Rodgers
2. Matt Ryan
3. Russell Wilson
4. Matt Stafford
5. Dak Prescott
6. Eli Manning

(I would rank a healthy Tony Romo 2nd.)

The AFC is far inferior....

1. Tom Brady
2. Ben Roethlisberger
3. Alex Smith
4. Ryan Tannehill
5. Brock Osweler
6. Connor Cook

(Derek Carr would be 3rd.)

Tier one
1. Brady
2. Rodgers
No one can really carry a football team, but these guys come about as close as you can. Wouldn't have said that about Aaron this season until recently.

Tier Two

(Roethlisberger, Ryan, Prescott, Eli, Stafford, Wilson)

Once you hit this level, they're all good enough that most of the time their efforts will allow their team to have a good chance of winning if they match up well at the other positions. On any given Sunday, anything can happen, but by and large their chances against one another depend on their teammates. There are differences, and I'd put Ben and Ryan at the top of this group, but overall I don't think any of them give their team a huge advantage over the other. If I had to bet I'd primarily focus on the other positions. But of course whoever wins will get all the credit no matter what.

Tier Three

(Osweiler, Cook, Tannehill)

This group should pack light.

To me, Smith is kinda in between Tier Two and Three, but I didn't see him much this year.

LOL at the people ranking Romo near the top. I am not saying you are wrong, but if that is the case, why in the world isn't he starting?

This is the best explanation I've read on the subject. It's by Jeff Sullivan at dc.com

• I have been pretty mute on this topic, at least in print, and there’s really no reason to break that trend. The week before last, I was watching practice and, my word, did Romo look unreal. Just making throws that only a handful of quarterbacks have ever made in my lifetime, dropping balls in spots where almost no one else would even throw. It is what it is, right? Sadly, and ridiculously unfairly, if the Cowboys don’t win the Super Bowl there are always going to be questions and debate about who should have been taking the snaps.

This is all confusing on so many levels. Dak Prescottdeserves being in the discussion for NFL MVP, yet he’s not the best quarterback on his team. I’m sorry, he’s just not. Regardless of who you think deserves to start, I am guessing, I am hoping that everyone agrees on that. Look, Daniel Day-Lewis is the best actor of the last 30 years, right? That doesn’t mean if you give him Leonardo DiCaprio’s role in Titanic it’s a better movie.

Just a tough year in the NFC with all these SB-winning QBs. The only tougher year I can remember recently is 2014 in the AFC when Brady, Peyton, Big Ben, and Flacco were all in the tournament.

Yep. We're bringing a knife to a gun fight.

An overrated fight managing knife.

But look what's around those quarterbacks. Wilson is running for his life with no run game at all. Stafford kinda the same. Manning's offensive line is trash, too.

Situations have as much to do with numbers as the quarterbacks themselves.

It's interesting that with Dak we have to look at the "situation", however with other QBs it's never that way. Has Tom Brady not had a good offensive line his entire career? I can count 1 season when it's been trash. What about his offensivs system? Interestingly, when he's been out due to injury or cheating, his backups have been remarkably good. How about Kurt Warner when he had the greatest show on turf? I dont recall him being ranked below any of the other QBs because he had 2 very good receivers, a fantastic 3rd receiver, and Marshall Faulk. Has Matt Ryan not benefited from having an elite offense?

The excuses for Dak's success are ridiculous.

I don't think people are discounting what Dak has done. Quite simply he's had the greatest rookie QB season of all time. Most everyone acknowledge that.

Most everyone also sees the holes in his game. Holes that would be exploited if he didn't have such a great cast of characters around him. That isn't an insult. It's the truth.

Now yes, other QBs aren't punished for having good teammates around them. But they've also done it multiple years. 5 years from now if Dak is still playing as well as he is now...he'll get that benefit of a doubt also. But as it stands he's started 16 games. He's a baby. What he does should be discounted at this stage of his career. Unless you want to crown him the greatest QB of all time...because that's where his start would place him.

You ready to do that?

Sorry...but I'm taking a healthy, surging Rodgers over all the rest...even Brady, Romo, Prescott and Ryan. If Rodgers was the Dallas QB, I would buy a ticket to the Superbowl tomorrow.

Because Dak has quarterbacked this team to 13-2. It's a uniquely strange situation.
Because it's been about a regular season record and maintaining momentum. I like Prescott...but I still don't fully trust him against the top defenses. Until he can put the Giants in their place, I will maintain my reservations.
