Had Parcells stayed around for the 07 season that team may not have ended up the way it did. There would have been no mailing in the season finale allowing Washington to make the playoffs and there would have been no club med treatment or trips to Cabo before the playoff game with the Giants.

We didn't win anything of consequence with Parcells but he took over a team that had been declining for several years and had just come off 3 straight 5-11 seasons. The game had passed him by as a HC but he greatly improved the roster with players that helped us contend for a number of years after he left. He found us a QB and he drafted 2 players Witten and Ware that likely will end up in the HOF.

Still, no playoff success to speak of, a lower winning percentage in Dallas than Garrett has, and I don't think that 2006 team he left us was better than the team we've got now. Do you?

That's speculation. No way of knowing. What we do know is he quit and left the team in a bad spot in the process.

Parcells was only here 4 seasons and took over a real mess which is why Jerry brought him in to try and fix things. The team had declined badly since 2000 and we had an awful QB situation. In the 4 years Parcells was here we made the playoffs twice and had 3 winning teams. Garrett has been here 6 full seasons and has only had 2 winning teams. Do you or anyone else think Garrett could have produced a 10-6 team and made the playoffs with Quincy Carter and the lack of talent that 03 team had?

The team we have now is better than any of the teams Parcells had because our offense is so good due to adding 2 great players at the QB and RB position. We didn't have close to the RB talent or OL talent under Parcells that we do now nor did we have the QB talent with Carter, Vinny and Bledsoe who were washed up but our defense ranked #1 in 2003 under Parcells. Our defense ranked in the top 10 twice in Parcells 4 seasons in Dallas.

All we can do is speculate but Parcells was demanding and played to win games, not mail them in. That much is clear about him, he played to win all regular season games. Parcells didn't leave the team in a bad spot, he left the team in a very good spot with a lot of talent that included a franchise QB, a great TE and the top pass rusher in the game which is why Wade was able to take over and go 13-3.

Both coaches inhereited a mess. I'd argue Garett's mess was worse. Both rebuilt the team through the draft. It's the same thing.

The only real difference is Garrett's winning percentage is higher and his team is better right now.

Garrett inherited a team that went 11-5 and won a playoff game the previous year. He was left with a franchise QB, one of the top pass rushers in the game, a great TE and a young Dez Bryant. Parcells was the one left with a mess, just go dig up that 03 roster and look at it.

Lol. Garrett inherited a team that was 1-7. And finished 5-3 with it. I don't need to look at the rosters. I know how bad both teams were.

And why is it you're always what your record says you were with Parcels except when it come so to his coaching record in Dallas? Why is that where all the squishy excuses start?

My order would be:
Landry- HOF coach
Johnson- HOF coach
Parcells- HOF coach
Garrett- Still writing his story
Switzer- Managed to not screw up a SB team
Gailey- Better offense than Wade, didn't get along with QB
Phillips- Better defense than Chan, better offensive players than Chan, but I will never forget how the team quit on him....never
Campo- Better commentator than HC

Gailey had a better offense than Wade, you can't be serious. Wade's first year was the Cowboys first 13 win season. And this is a franchise with HOF coaches like Landry and Jimmy. Wade's offense was led by a young and in his prime Tony Romo, Jason Witten and TO. Gailey had broke back Aikman, disabled Joey Galloway and Rocket. Chan's teams quit on him waaaay before Wade's team quit on him. Chan's teams barely made playoffs, never in hunt for a ring. The Wade hate is ridiculous.

Landry - 2 rings plus record for most consecutive winning seasons; 5 SB appearances; built team from cellar dweller
Jimmy - 2 rings, 90's dynasty, GM duties; rebuilt team from cellar dweller in 3 seasons - Landry's talent cupboard was completely bare (except for Herschel Walker)
Switzer - 1 ring - took over Jimmy's 90's team
Phillips - 2 playoff appearances in 3.5 seasons (never lower than 3rd in division); first 13 win season in Cowboys franchise history taking over Parcells team
Parcells - 2 playoff appearances in 4 seasons; rebuilt team from cellar dweller, went to playoffs in first season with Campo's talentless team
Garrett - 2 playoff appearances in 7 seasons; 13 win season also led NFL and HFA throughout; took over from Wade Phillips
Gailey - 2 playoff appearances in 2 seasons; took over from Barry Switzer
Campo - 0 playoff appearances, three straight 5-11 seasons; talent cupboard was completely bare
