Micheal. I say this with respect to you. The 4-12 season looked like a quit season to me?

Honestly I did not see the 4-12 season that way.

That team was in many of the games they ended up losing.

I saw effort. I saw a team undone by sub-par quarterbacking and as usual a defense that lacked talent.

Slot Switzer after Parcells. Maybe Wade over Parcells too. It's about playoff success and rings. Garrett has neither.

I never liked Switzer, is why he is ranked lower but that ring should probably place him 3rd or 4th on my list. IMO, just about any coach could have come in and win a title with that team.

Wade could be flipped with Tuna as well, I always liked Wade.

Lol. Garrett inherited a team that was 1-7. And finished 5-3 with it. I don't need to look at the rosters. I know how bad both teams were.

And why is it you're always what your record says you were with Parcels except when it come so to his coaching record in Dallas? Why is that where all the squishy excuses start?

He inherited a team that quit on Wade and had a backup QB starting. That was basically the same roster that went 11-5 the previous year but the 2009 roster had a healthy Romo with the addition of Sean Lee and Dez Bryant in 2010. Parcells could have only wished he had a Tony Romo starting, a Jason Witten, a Demarcus Ware, a Sean Lee and a Dez Bryant when he took over the team in 2003. Once Garrett took over the 2010 team and Jerry kicked everyone in the *** threatening everyones job, that team woke up and won 5 of their last 8 games which proved they had more to give than what they were giving Wade the first 8 games.

That's one narrative. Either way, they were 1-7 when he took them over, and he systematically set out to immediately rebuild that roster.

He proceeded to go 8-8 three straight seasons before having his first winning season, then Romo goes down in 2015 and Garrett suffers the worst season the Cowboys have seen since the 89 season. Now we're in a similar situation to what we were in following the 2014 season, seeing if we can validate on a great regular season.

Yep. We know the details. And he still managed a better won/loss record to-boot.

Phillips was 24-22 as Cowboys coach with most of his success coming with the team Parcells built.

Garrett is 58-46 with most of his success from the roster that was built during his tenure. He treaded water with the garbage Phillips left him.

The playoff record is a wash.

That all seems tangible to me.

You mean garbage like Dez Bryant, Sean Lee,and Scandrick?

JG also had plenty of Parcells players on his roster ( Romo, DWare, Witt, Ratliff, James and Hatcher )

Based on anything in particular?
I like motivators, I do not see Garrett as a motivator. His clock management is pathetic. He is a nice guy, I believe too nice, he is respected as a nice guy, players coach, with this talent a little more push and again motivational coach, imo, would have pushed us to the SB. Has won zero playoff games. I do not hate the guy, but think there are other coaching types that may be better suited for the Cowboys. Dak and Zeke won the games this year, not Garrett. Just my take.

From the games I've watched yes.

I've never seen a game out of Garrett's group that matched the 44-3 pasting at the hands of the Eagles in 2008 or the 45-7 fiasco vs. Green Bay in 2010.

Did you watch any of the games in 1989? Or during the Campo years when teams were running for 200 yards against his and Zimmers D?

I've been watching games since the early 70's.

The '89 team didn't quit.

And much like the '89 team, Campo's teams didn't quit... They lacked talent to compete.

Campo inherited a bona fide mess. A horrible cap structure and very low on talent. The reason that Jerry picked Campo, was that he could trust him, despite all the problems.

Boy, those Campo years were rough. I barely made it through.
I'll say one thing for the lil' guy, he sure could beat the Commanders.

If we are limiting a discussion to players acquired under Jason Garrett, perhaps one should list the current pro bowl players that came to the team under Jason...first.
