Rapoport: Al Golden In Line For Assistant Coach Position?

I like the addition of Golden. Seems like a good coach with a good coaching background. Spent time on Paterno's staff, Tom O'Brien's staff at BC, Patriots, etc.

Wasnt able to do much with the 3 star athletes he recruited in S Florida. Run out of town after getting smashed by Clemson at home by 50 plus points.

We seem to always be shopping for groceries is places no good football team would ever frequent.
We seem to love coaches and players from Cleveland, Oakland, Miami, etc. Why do we never shop
for talent or coaches in New England, Seattle, Arizona, even Tampa Bay (see Lovie Smith). Garrett just
loves to live at the bottom of the pickle barrel.

Well, we did try a multitude of seattle RB's this year. :)

Seems he didn't do squat at Miami and they couldn't wait to run him out of town.

Plenty of talent still at Miami, especially on defense. The system utilized under Golden's watch wasn't conducive to highlighting that talent...sound familiar? Unless this guy is going to talk them into drafting Deon Bush with a mid round pick he's freaking useless.

So you're suggesting a shuffling of assistant coaches as a fresh approach to changing things?

Ideal? No, but it's obvious that any large-scale changes ain't happening next season so no point in pushing that agenda. Positional coaches aren't going to change the culture.

I've resigned myself to the fact that our season rests on the fragile shoulders of a 36 year-old QB and a coach who shows the originality of a Transformers movie. I hope for the best, but a risk assessor would have a field day with our organization. A good draft and a sound free agency will hopefully minimize some of that risk.
