I'm not even sure if he is or not. Everyone thought Cassel could be a competent backup.

Weeden couldn't look past one option
Cassell has a noodle arm and can't throw deep
KMoore is a genius with small hands and smells like cabbage

At least Foles can read a defense, make all the throws and get on a rollercoaster at Six Flags.

But that's not what some were saying about Cassel when he got here. He's led a team to the playoffs. He just missed the playoffs when he was with the Patriots. Most thought he was a competent backup. I'll agree with you about the other 2 although Weeden played better than I ever thought he would. I saw him play in Cleveland and he was that bad.

Cassel could have been a good backup five years ago. Kitna was the last decent backup this team has had in a long time. Files is getting bashed here by the same posters that supported Weeden. Fans might as well accept the fact that Foles can start on several teams in this league, but posters here thinks QBs like him are available all the time. Just look at the great QBs that Dallas had to choose from this last year. Foles looks like an All-Pro compared to the garbage that took snaps this last season. There was times during this last season that fans would have given anything to have Foles. Memories are short around here.

Foles has limited skills. Weak arm, suspect accuracy, immobile, doesn't move in the pocket well.
If we give up a draft pick for him, even a 7th rounder, it's a waste.

Yep, I'd rather give up draft picks for Christine Michaels and Matt Cassel.

Foles is so great the rams feel the need to get rid of him, yeah that is who I want a guy who has failed in Philly and LA.

It is easy to say you don't want Foles, but what is your solution ? Name a better backup prospect . Just name one. Weeden, Cassell, etc., just one that offers a better solution. By the way, name one that hasn't been with multiple teams.

You don't want to throw either Wentz or Goff or any 1st year Qb into the mix without at least a year or two in the system. 2-3 would be ideal. I would take Foles in a heartbeat as a backup to Romo. But not for more than a 5th-6th.

Don't see how a rookie could do any worse.

I heard the same argument last year, that you have to have a vet backup in order to win............we had 3 vet backups and went 1-11 and it would have been 0-12 if not for Desean Jackson handing us the game.

Don't see how Goff or Wentz could be any worse than 1-11.

No he can't.

There must be another Nick Foles out there that I am not aware of. The one I watched while living in Philly had a magical year that was a pure fluke and after that, was a bum and had a noodle arm, no mobility and the pocket awareness of a piece of lint.

This thread and another one is going to make me sound like an Orton apologist but I'm really not...

Kyle Orton was a very good backup QB. Luckily, Romo stayed healthy enough that Orton never had to see the field and yes he lost his one start with us. But the Eagles were a better team and they were red hot going into that game, Romo is an underdog going into the game.

We were what...1-11 without Romo? I believe based on how Orton looked against the Eagles(not great but competent) and how he looked for the Bills, we would've won 5-6 games with Orton.

As for Foles? I guess we could do worse for a backup but if not for one insane stretch of games with the Eagles and their QB friendly offense, he may not even be in the league right now. But he could be an improvement over what we had last year though I think we can do better.

It's not about doing any better or worse. Obviously they wouldn't do any worse. It is more about a good development path.

I would go with the rookie if need be, I want Dallas to have a future and I have seen what happens when you don't take care of the future. you guys are pinning all hopes on the next 2 years I think Dallas can win now and address the future of this franchise. I think it is a big mistake not addressing it. there are 3 very good young prospect in this draft that I think have very good chances of developing into leaders of this team. Who is going to backup? I will take my chances on rookies over these dead beat QB that we have cling to in recent years at least these younger players have a real chance of development while guys like Cassel are who they are which is inconsistent players

Gurley was tearing up the league in games 4-7.
88 carries 566 yd 6.4 ypc

Here's what Foles did in those games:
Foles 56 of 100 666 yd 5 td 4 int 76.6

By game 8, defenses started stacking the box to stop Gurley. Here are his numbers for the rest of the season.
135 carries 531 yd 3.9 ypc

Here's what Foles did for the rest of the season, against defenses that were basically daring the Rams to pass.
Foles 80 of 150 742 yd 0 td 5 int 53.3

Here's what Case Keenum did:
Keenum 54 of 88 597 yd 4 td 1 int 91.9

It's called hyperbole.

Foles blows. You guys all want to ***** and complain about Weeden or Cassel but Foles is no better. He's a terrible QB.

If the goal is to get a real backup in here.......... Foles isn't that guy.
