I love when people argue "subjectivity" as if it were a cold hard fact. It's an opinion! Not right, nor wrong as it's in the eye of the beholder. Get over it!

Anyhow, "How good" a movie is also relative to how it's being judged. If you're Paramount Pictures, I'm willing to bet that when it's all said and done, they are looking at the bottom dollar rather than the reviews, awards, or whatever else positive or negative it gets. Those are all good, but if a movie gets 5k awards and everyone says it's the greatest movie in the world yet loses $200M, Point blank, the movie was a failure.

Paranormal Activity

It was 'different' I can understand where many would not like it. The ending was a bit contrived. If you can. watch the 'alternate' ending.

6/10

I know you're just trying to make a point, but that sequence of events is almost guaranteed to never happen. A lot of movies that don't make money but receive awards are released after award season and/or make tons of money in rentals and dvd purchases and will often end up profitable in the end.

District 9. 5.5 out of 10.

The lead being such a jock-sniffer killed it for me. I kept thinking from the opening stupid little video intro, this guy is too much of a sniveling wiener and he's gonna get his head bit off. Then they go into the slum, and I couldn't wait to see his head get bitten off.

Scratch that, 4 out of 10.

He did a fantastic job of acting in the movie.

Something something something Dark Side 8/10

Pretty faithful spoof/adaptation of ESB. Poor Meg keeps getting the worst roles, though.

Starship Troopers III

The only reason I watched all of it was because it had T'Pol from 'Enterprise' in it. It's sole redeeming feature was a bit of gratuitous nudity.

Wow, I didn't even know that they made a Starship Troopers II. Guess I have been out of the loop on that one.

I started watching that movie and turned it off after the first few minutes...If I knew she was going to show some skin, I might have stuck around a little longer.:D

Otherwise, the story was nothing new, because it was simply Pocahontas.

...or "Dances With Wolves."

I agree, though. The 3-D was amazing.

Sherlock Holmes 7.0 out of 10

Rachel McAdams was not in enough scenes. Thought the chemistry between RDJ and Jude Law would have had more ooommphhh.

7.5 out of 10. Not bad at all. I do like Tom Hanks as an actor to a great degree, but it's a hard movie to suspend disbelief for.

Uh, why again did they need to keep dragging a physicist around to change the battery if they could have left her in a hotel and called her when they needed her? Is there not a single historian in the entire Vatican City that could have helped to a greater degree than the chicka?

Public Enemies - 4/10- Not too much happened, and none of the characters, even Dillinger, were very interesting. They also took too many liberties with the history/facts. Pretty Boy Floyd killed before Dillinger in some flower field?? ***??

Aliens in the Attic - 2/10 - I really feel sorry for today's kids with all the crap like this they are given to watch. When will someone make this generation's Goonies?

My Life in Ruins - 5/10 - Meh, there's an occasional chuckle here and there, but really, just a lame attempt to cash in off of My Big Fat Greek Wedding (a little late I think) that just uses stereotypes of other culters to joke about instead of Greeks.

The Last House on the Left - 6.5/10 - Really, not a bad thriller. They took there time with the important scenes and setting everything up, though the end feels a little rushed and anticlimatic. Nice little scene at the end though.

Don't give them any ideas. Hollywood is already remaking every movie as it is. :banghead:
