Rate the last movie you saw

I take my niece to a dinner and movie about once a month. She usually picks the movie, last night that was a big mistake and we saw Cop Out. I thought the previews looked pretty bad, but they were actually twice as good as the movie. 4 out 10!

Brooklyn's Finest
5/10

Like someone else stated, Ellen Barkin was horrible and seems to have aged badly.

I consider this movie a "poor man's" Crash.

Why was she squinting so much in the film. She looked like Popeye in the movie. She used to be pretty good looking but not anymore.

She had a very small role and probably saw this as her opportunity to make a comeback and probably over-acted a bit.

The Last Starfighter 8/10

Yes, it's campy. Yes, the effects are dated--today's video games (and, indeed, video games from ten years ago) possess more convincing effects. Yes, my rating is driven more by nostalgia than the film's actual quality.

However, there is a moment at the end of the movie--when Alex's Gunstar blasts off and disappears into the night sky while the Last Starfighter fanfare plays--that I become nine-years-old again and I truly believe I can be anything.:D

The message of the movie is thoroughly American.

it's a little corny, but i'm a james bond fan so i love it. :D

The Hurt Locker. 7.5/10
Worth the watch, but not sure if it's really Oscar worthy.

One of my favorites.

I just finished New Moon last night - 5/10. Awful writing/acting is still very prevalent, but the worst thing about this movie is that it's dreadfully boring, at least until about the 90 minute mark where there is a 20 minute or so stretch of a potentially interesting story. Twenty minutes can't make up for the rest of the crap though. Worse than the first one.

I have only watched one Bond movie over the last 10 - 15 years and only because it had Halle Berry in it.

Duel - 1970 with Dennis Weaver where he is chased by a tanker truck the entire movie...... I've seen that movie 300 times and can still watch it. It isn't even that good. Go figure.

Crazy Heart - 6/10.

The Wrestler was better. This was basically a carbon copy. Old has-been trying to reconnect with a child he once abandoned meets a much younger hot chick who changes his life.

Get Casino Royale...the new Bond will make you forget all the past ones.

Shutter Island 7/10

Great acting. The twist was pretty obvious but the 2nd twist was pretty good. I used to hate DiCaprio during the Titatanic days but he's one of our best actors right now and one of my favorites. I can't wait for him in Nolan's Inception!
