Why was she squinting so much in the film. She looked like Popeye in the movie. She used to be pretty good looking but not anymore.Maikeru-sama;3313560 said:Brooklyn's Finest

Like someone else stated, Ellen Barkin was horrible and seems to have aged badly.
I consider this movie a "poor man's" Crash.

Yes, it's campy. Yes, the effects are dated--today's video games (and, indeed, video games from ten years ago) possess more convincing effects. Yes, my rating is driven more by nostalgia than the film's actual quality.
However, there is a moment at the end of the movie--when Alex's Gunstar blasts off and disappears into the night sky while the Last Starfighter fanfare plays--that I become nine-years-old again and I truly believe I can be anything.![]()
The message of the movie is thoroughly American.

Worth the watch, but not sure if it's really Oscar worthy.

Awful writing/acting is still very prevalent, but the worst thing about this movie is that it's dreadfully boring, at least until about the 90 minute mark where there is a 20 minute or so stretch of a potentially interesting story. Twenty minutes can't make up for the rest of the crap though. Worse than the first one.
