The world's end. If you liked the other Pegg/Frost movies you might like this one. Personally did not like it as much as the others but it was OK.

Now I have to watch a similar movie called Doghouse. You can find it free on YouTube. English, buddy film comedy.

The Gambler - 6.5/10

I thought it was decent but nothing special. Definitely something I would recommend waiting and renting.

Solid Rupert Wyatt remake of the 1974 James Toback film of the same title.
A Literary Professor navigates the underworld of bookies with a gambling addiction and a death wish.
This remake of the 74' film suffers from some of the game character development issues as the original.
Visually attractive, & well acted, but is the purpose of the main character somewhat lost without a more detailed nod towards a more emotionally evolved backstory?
Solid Watch.... but watch Toback's version first if you haven't (James Caan at his peak)

Broadway musical adapter to cinema with a top notch ensemble cast.
The performances carry the way, but as a film the techniques were rather reliant on its broadway roots.
Seemingly forgetting that balance, which gave films like "Chicago", "Sweeny Todd", "Jersey Boys", & "Nine", that tactical advantage......all more clever in their transitions, use of devices, editing, and so forth....
If you're a fan of the musical, or any of the actors, you will enjoy...
Family friendly... save Jonny Depth's musical number, very much a subtextual "WTH!" moment..

Chris Rock attempts to bring his version of "Curb Your Enthusiasm" to the big screen.
Although some clever points are made throughout the film, his nod towards making a 'Mockumentary' is lackluster in the directing and acting departments .
The improvised nature of this film exposes the weak acting skills of its leads. The possibilities of the film are revealed in performances by Cedric the Entertainer, and Jerry Seinfeld, whom both maneuvers this genre with ease.
This film was made for pay tv, not the theaters... Chris Rock stand-up > Chris Rock movies.

Dumb and Dumber To

I saw the first one in the theater when I was 11 years old with my best friend at the time and thought it was one of the funniest movies I had ever seen. Over the last 20 years, whenever I saw it on TV, I would watch it. I know almost every line in the film and the songs from the soundtrack are permanently embedded in my memories.

I thought this would be just a cheap money grab by all involved, and while it wasn't up to the original's quality, I thought it was really funny. Even my wife thought it was pretty funny, and she wasn't really a fan of the original.

Off topic to thread: Why do most prolific stand ups do so poorly on the big screen? They have had some great success stories on television but not so much big screen films. I would guess being confined and limited in expression to relate to mainstream audiences. But the track record is deplorable. Murphy/Robin Williams are the only ones that immediately come to mind as the primary exceptions. Pryor, Mooney, Carlin, Chapelle (not tops just relates to this aspect), Lawrence, Louis CK, Burr, etc.

Not sure but Chris Rock isn't so bad. He was good in Lethal Weapon, Grown Ups, Dogma and Nurse Betty. I just take them for what they are.......funny dudes :)

Watched the Interview on youtube. Had it's funny moments but if you have seen the other movies with the same guys in it, not much new in this one.

The Inbetweeners movie...if you liked the british comedy show, I am sure you will like the movie. Now I have to see if I can find the second one.

Expendables 3...I was sleepy when I watched it but I had to turn it off after an hour as I just could not get into it. I might give another chance down the road.

Fury...I love WWII movies and this one was ok but for the most part but thought it was going to be much better. I think I hyped it up too much in my mind so it was going to be hard for it to come close to what I was hoping it would be.

Night Shift ( the old Henry Winkler/Michael Keaton/ Shelly long movie). Still had some funny moments in it.

My favorite side character for Rock (outside of Mookie on New Jack City) was the hotel staffer in Beverly Hills Ninja with Chris Farley right before he passed. Underrated Farley flick. But the other titles you mention outside of Grown Ups, Rock is only playing supporting roles. Same relates to the other comedians. I'm not saying they are bad in the supporting roles just more surprised they can't be the lead. They are okay in spot duty but never get the mainstream big screen success. Just unfortunate more so. I would take a great stand up over a script any day. Oddly enough, I hate improv:confused:

I agree...he is ok in supporting roles but some of his films where he was the main guy just fell flat to me.

Almost comical if you know the story of Jonestown, but very good under the radar Netflix gem

Annabelle 4/10 - about what I expected. Stupid cheesy horror movie that was an unintentional comedy.
Nightcrawler 8/10 very good movie. Went it with high expectations and they were met.
The Judge 6/10 Had some promise but just never got off the ground for me.
No Good Deed 5/10 Your typical low substance chase/escape type movie. Very predictable. Had promise at the beginning then fizzled out.
John Wick 6/10 Typical action movie with an ok plot. Not terrible but not something I'd see again

Unbroken -8/10 The movie was a bit too heavy-handed at times but I guess it's to be expected in a movie like this. Louis Zamperini led a remarkable life.

Weird movie to review but I baby-sat my niece recently and was pleasantly surprised.

Usually Disney/Pixar/Etc are good movies, but I liked the lack of cliches-- most notably **SPOILER... I mean, if you care** the girl did not have to be saved by the guy, but it wasn't an obnoxious, overly done 'girl-power' message shoved in your face. I thought that was a nice to see that for young girls like my niece.
