The Expendables 3

It was boring, dumb and stupid..........said the person not born in the 70's, heh. It is not an Academy Award winner at all but I was entertained. There was a lot of nostalgia there from the cameos, one-liners and such.

We even saw an Antonio Banderas appearance, who looks thin and frail. It just brings back childhood memories from movies seeing all of these guys together doing what they did best.....shoot and kill people.

After all of the nostalgic stuff, I think they missed out on one aspect........we should have seen Jet Li fight Mel Gibson again(Lethal Weapon)

Arnold saying "get back to da chopper" floored me, heh.

I know, it doesn't take much to entertain me and most will say it wasn't a good movie, but I liked it.

The Counselor

One of those movies that could have been much better if they did not try to get too cute or artsy.
The acting was good for the most part though.

Into the Storm
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2106361/?ref_=fn_al_tt_1

Somehow this got uploaded to Youtube so I decided to give it a go.

This would be like Twister except it looked like it was made straight to TV SYFY channel. The effects were not
bad but the acting, directing and script was just horrible and I think I only managed to watch the first hour and
I only lasted that long as I was messing on my table while watching.

Quigley Down Under

Seems like it is not played very often on TV or on Movie channels but when it is and I see it, I have to watch it.
Don't know why I like it.

The Imitation Game
8/10
Director Morten Tyldum tells the story of mathematician, & computer science trailblazer Alan Turing, and his heroics during World War II...
This film succeeds in keeping a balance between, story and characters, as well as revealing several back stories in a very effective manner. Benedict Cumberbatch does a admirable job as the lead, and he is assisted by a very strong supporting cast. Well done period piece, with great transitions, sound design, & Photography....
Somewhat romanticized, but very much worth the price of admission.

Oblivion with Tom Cruise.

The visuals were nice, the idea was nice.

But I found the whole movie extremely boring and was nodding off during it.

Meh

Frozen (8/10) For what it was is; I saw it over T-Day weekend. Better than the last one I saw Shrek) due to Murphy's obnoxious voice.

Winters Tale
7/10

It got horrible reviews on Rotten Tomato, but I thought it was good. Kept me interested. It's a love story with some fantasy thrown in ... with a plot twist or two.

Oh my. Love the music, not much else.

The Wolverine

I must be in a bad mood for movies. This sucked for me too. Sigh.

Munich
9/10

This is my favorite Speilberg film ever.... others may have been bigger hollywood vehicles, a few more critically acclaimed by insiders...
But Munich is craftsmanship, balance, empathy, & thrilling all in one. A rare accomplishment in filmmaking.
A strong political theme will always draw controversy, but this is one of the most entertaining dissections of assassins, & their political affiliations, contrasted by their personal lives i've seen presented on the big screen.

INTERSTELLAR (IMAX, and not just any IMAX but huuuuuuge IMAX at Smithsonian Air & Space in DC!)

Reminds me of so many films. Not Matrix, in which the Oracle comments something like "that'll really bake your noodle" or something like that...Me forgets...but you get the idea. THINK THINK THINK.

This film is layer upon layer upon layer. All the while featuring superb acting, homages to past Sci-Fi Great Films (Contact, 2001 A Space Odyssey, Star Trek, Star Wars, Gravity, I'm sure there are more...)

The film starts with humanity in a desperate situation, and builds from there. I can't really say much more without spoilers. It was a really long film and not long enough at the same time.

The little girl that played "Murph" should get an Academy Award. No doubt.

Christopher Nolan, you are GENIUS.

I would love to talk in detail about so many things of this epic film but it is simply impossible without giving spoilers.

AND THAT SOUNDTRACK! Boggle. Superb!!

The IMAX experience of this added the HUGE screen, plus the massively enhanced audio. RUMMMMMMMBLE-FEEEEEEL-IT.... JUST AWESOME!!

In all my previous movie reviews on this forum, in this thread, I have given precisely ONE 10 out of 10 rating for any film. And I think I made an error in that...the one film was "12 Years A Slave". I should also have given the original Korean film "Old Boy" a 10 out of 10 if I didn't...

Anyway, my point is, THIS film is my second ever 10 out of 10!

GO SEE THIS MOVIE.

Really disagree with a lot this, especially the music, and thought it was way too long. One character who takes up a good chunk of time could be eliminated completely and save 30 minutes or more.

Oh my God. Stick to your Dumb and Dumber genre and leave the grown up films to the grown ups.

You just picked some stinkers. The Wolverine was a fairly terrible movie.

Agreed...I was really bummed I paid money to buy the wolverine DVD as it was such a stinker.

As far as Rock of Ages...might have been the worst movie I have seen in a decade. They even ruined most of the music.

I was extremely disappointed with Rock of Ages. Initially I was excited to watch as I enjoyed the music that was being utilized for the musical, but the execution and pure weirdness of the movie made it unwatchable.

Snowpiercer - 6/10

Decided to watch it on Netflix. Lot's of issues with the plot, dialogue and writing. Wasn't a big fan.
