Arrival - 8/10

This movie was nothing like what I expected it to be. I can't remember the last film that moved me as much as this one did.

Yoga Hosers - Kevin Smith Film. Normally I like his films however this one was just not good. I got a small laugh out of Ralph Garman's impersonations and Kevin Smith's voices for the bratznazis but that was about it and I think I only laughed at that due to them doing similar things on their Hollywood Babble on podcast.
He admits it was for tweener girls like his daughter who was in the film along side of Johnny Depps daughter who was in the film. Johnny Depp is in the film as well but if you did not know it I doubt you would guess the character he played was him.
It is currently on NetFlix if anyone is interested but like I said...I am a Kevin Smith fan and this one just was not good.

Madea's Christmas - If you like Tyler Perry as Madea, you will like this one. If you don't, don't bother. Larry the Cable guy and Madea had some good interactions. Like I said if you like Madea movies you should like this one.

Bout time for me to watch Bad Santa - It has become the wife and I's annual Christmas movie replacing Christmas story. Can't wait to buy Bad Santa 2 when it comes out.

Jungle Book (2016) - Much darker than what I remembered as a kid. Would not be shocked if this movie scared kids a lot more than the original. Also...maybe it is just me as I do have some ear problems, but the sound was bad. The music and background noises were jacked up so high that there were times when some characters with bass voices could not be heard clearly. I had to kick on the CC option a couple of times. Super loud background noise or music while the characters were talking...drove me crazy.
Also...not sure why they put in the few songs in the movie from the older movies. The song quality in this one was not very good and it seemed like they were not as vibrant and sing songy as the originals...like they slowed them down or something and took away the fun of them.

All in all I liked the movie but the sound irked me at times.

ROGUE ONE 9/10

AWESOME. Loved it better than The Force Awakens. And I liked that movie a lot. The characters in this movie had so many emotional scenes, especially Felicity Jones. She was amazing. Don't have anything negative to say about the film. Maybe not having John Williams doing the score. That's about it. But thought the music was good, different from the other Star Wars films.

A Star Wars film for adults, crafted by a fellow lifelong fan. Great movie!

Right on. Don't know why the film wasn't great in some peoples minds (not just here, but movie critics too). I wanted to see it again right after I got home yesterday.

And btw, George Lucas really, really liked the movie. On The Force Awakens...

After comparing his decision to sell his company, Lucasfilm, to Disney for $4 billion in 2012 to a bad breakup or a divorce, he said of Abrams’ film, “(Disney) wanted to do a retro movie. I don’t like that. Every movie, I worked very hard to make completely different, with different planets, with different spaceships, to make it new."

Mark Hammill loved it too.

I'd call it Star Wars for grown ups. An adult film for adult fans of the originals. It wasn't 'kiddified' and I give not Garett Edwards and Disney execs for having the courage to do that. Oftentimes, the business side gets in the way of the art. But I feel it didn't in this case, and I hope they're rewarded for it at the box office. I know I'll do my part by going to see it a few more times!

This is cool. Breakdown of the scenes cut from the trailers in the finished film. Very detaied and maybe why they were cut. (takes awhile to load full page, with gifs and stuff, etc.) If it doesn't show full page, copy and paste into Firefox browser.

Jason Borne. Very good action and tech sequences.
A-.

I also saw Ben Hur - Sometimes it's best to leave classic movies alone.

Sing - 5/10. My stepdaughter liked it, but I thought it was pretty bland and unfunny.

Hateful 8. Remind me I do not like Tarantino movies next time I think about watching one. Way too much gratuitous killing. 2 out if 10.

Got some Google play cards and after redeeming them you would basically get a $1.25 rental.

Finding Dory - Was not bad but did not have the same magic as Finding Nemo.

Sausage Party - thought it would be better but there were a lot few raunchy laughs in the movie.

Pete's Dragon - I actually liked this more than I expected. I think they did a good job. Really nothing like the original. Both had their own magic. Was really nice that it as not a musical like so many old Disney movies.

Bought a few movies on sale.

King Ralph - One of those goofy movies that I love.

Bad Santa - Got this earlier this month on sale even though I have it on DVD. Love this movie. It is my official must watch around Christmas movie.

The Conjuring 1 & 2 bundle pack - Both are some of the best horror movies in the last few years.

Passengers was pretty good, anyone else see it?

I felt like the story could have gone in a different direction and been much more exciting/interesting with room to grow into a franchise. The way they went with it makes it a one and done imo

Saw it today with my grandson. We both liked it. Of course I could watch b anything Jennifer Lawrence us in and give it a 7 out of 10 just because she is in it. I agree, the story could have gone a different direction for a sequel. Still. It was like cast away on a space ship. Still give the movie 7.5 out if ten
