You mean because they don't take themselves too seriously? That's why Spiderman was always my favorite superhero, and why I hated Toby Maguire in the role.
Well, the character was created from the perspective of a teenager gaining super powers and how he would deal with them in the greater world. Ergo, a superhero starting his career fighting the good fight like a teenager would. It bears to reason the character's personality would not change much as he entered adulthood.
There are TONS of characters, each illustrated with their own individual personalities. Some characters, if not most, would not approach their everyday activities--sometimes dealing with life-and-death situations--the same way Peter Parker does. They would be internally and externally serious more often--just like most of us folks existing in the real world.
Personally, I did not dislike Maguire acting. I think Sam Raimi (I think it was Raimi) pictured his idea of Parker and thought Maguire best fit the character. What I did not like is that Raimi's idea of Parker (or Mary Jane for that matter) dd not match the character in his titles in my opinion--sort of like how Tim Burton perceived Bruce Wayne (and Batman). So I did not necessary get mad at Maguire for acting more like himself than how the character would act and behave.
Holland is the best match of actor-to-character but I did enjoy Garfield's acting as Parker much better than Maguire. I think he would have endeared himself more with fans of the character IF
The Amazing Spider-
Man 2 how not been such a disappointing sequel.
