Saw White House Down last weekend and while I am not a Channing Tatum fan I thought the action was actually pretty good. A little cheesy in places but overall a good action movie.

Saw Grown Ups Two Last night and it may be the worse Adam Sandler movie of all time and he has had some bad ones. I liked Grown Ups 1 enough to try this one but this was just horrible. How many fart jokes does he have to tell when the first one is just not funny. Even my twelve year old grandson thought it was bad. Waste of money. All I could say when the credits started was "Thank God" that it was over.

I finished with Adam Sandler quite a while ago, he doesn't care what he gives his fans, I don't care to see the crap he now puts out.

I think it's disgusting the level of garbage he spews out for human consumption.

This isn't much of a new movie, but I found myself watching, late a few nights ago, Larry Crowne. I really loved it, especially being something I hadn't even heard of, just happened to stumble upon it. I'd give it an 8 or 9 out of ten. The ending was a little rushed, but all in all, a very enjoyable watch for me.

Saw World War Z this past weekend. Didn't love it, didn't hate it. Great suspense throughout and the huge action sequences that we saw in the trailers looked very good. 6/10

Monster's U - 6/10. The first is one of my favorites by Pixar (which I feel have really gone down hill since The Incredibles), and it wasn't terrible, but I just didn't find it all that funny. It was missing a lot without Boo, or something similar, and really was just a toned down family friendly version of countless other college underdog movies.

Despicable Me 2 - 5/10. The minions are fun enough, but weren't great, and the rest of this movie was pretty much a bore. I was getting very restless during this one.

Saw a couple of movies these past weeks.
We saw Pacific Rim this past weekend. Meh on the storyline, but wow, loved the visual effects and the fighting scenes. 10/10 just for that.

Saw Despicable Me 2. It was okay. Probably 7/10.
Saw This is the End, funny movie, but would not watch again. 6/10.
Now you see me, awesome movie, I love magic! 9.5/10

Looking forward to seeing Red 2 and RIP Department this coming weekend. Can't wait to see Ender's Game this fall/winter!

I watched Silver Linings Playbood on Demand last week and enjoyed as much as when I saw it at the movie. This may be one of my top favorites of all time. Jennifer Lawrence was as incredible in her performance as Jack Nicholson was in One Flew Over the Cuckoos Nest or Al Pacino was in Scent of a Woman. That movie is a 10 of 10 and probably blows the lid off of ten just because of the characters. Can't wait to see her next one......

I forgot, Red 2 - 6/10. Saw this a few weeks ago. I wasn't extremely excited with the first, but it was enjoyable enough. This one is about the same, though I think I enjoyed it a little less. The story was kinda meh and a bit all over the map. Not bad, but not really good either.

Pacific Rim

Acting terrible. Fight scenes, 99% were at night and later in the movie, under water. Too afraid to fight during the day? And the monsters were PATHETIC. Nothing original in look or feel. Wow, their mouths glow in the dark! Whoopie.

Trailer looked good, this movie was beyond bad.

1/10.

To be honest what did you expect to get? It's a movie about monsters v.s giant robots, you couldn't possibly think the plot was going to be spot on nor an academy award acting performance. With those movies you know what you're going to get. Just like Alien invasion movies or Zombie movies, people are overly critical of every aspect and don't enjoy it for what it is..

I expected originality in the monsters. Come on, mouths that glow? Get real. And the fight scenes were all at night. Lame.

I actually would give Pacific Rim a 5/10. I mean the acting outside of Idris Elba, and the dialogue were horrible at best, but I really didn't expect much different. Sometimes that horribleness was too distracting, but I really can't be overly critical of the film. The fight scenes were all at night, with water being a big element, but I could still see what was happening better than Transformers-- wasn't much confusion.

Anyway, it was an incredibly dumb movie with an incredibly simple premise, but that's what it was meant to be and it didn't pretend to any differently. If you want to see a giant monster get punched in the face by a rocket powered robot arm then this movie delivers. My inner child is satisfied.

Just saw Red 2, not as enjoyable as Red 1, but lots of laugh still. I got to sit in those new plushy movie theater chairs that leaned back like a lazyboy, it was awesome the movie experience. I would give Red 2 a 7/10. Good, not great

I watched iceberg's "7 Sunsets". 4 of 5 stars. It's pretty impressive for a low budget flick. Check it out for yourself.

The script was thoughtful and progressed nicely.

I would give it the same score, but I was not impressed by the action at all. I found it much more difficult to see what was going on than with Transformers. While both had a lot of close up action (except TF3), the robots/monsters were a lot bigger, so being close up gave a lot smaller view of what was going on. And the action was pretty dull as everything moved extremely slowly. The story/acting were weak as you mentioned.

World War Z - As someone else stated, not great but not horrible either.

Evil Dead - Kind of liked the humor of the original but the remake was not too bad for a remake of a low budget movie.

Hangover III - Liked the first two better as you got to piece together stuff and the funny pictures at the end were always worth a laugh but this one was not bad.

Pacific Rim

I would agree with the 5/10 rating, or right in that area.

Kept waiting for the emotion & chemistry to develop between the characters but it never did, for me. Bad acting primarily, poorly thought out dialog / script, and the plot (and script) just borrowed waaaaaay too much from other films such as Armageddon and Independence Day, and one or two others. I mean come on...the "marshall" leading the defense of Earth giving a pep talk to the workers, ending with "TODAY, WE CANCEL THE APOCALYPSE!" Geeeeeeez. Talk about outright theft of dialog. Oh, another outright theft was from "Deep Blue Sea" when the dude got swallowed suddenly by the baby alien.

And it was indeed hard to follow the action sequences.
