Mamet is a genius of dialog.

And that's what made it a high-rated movie for me.

The dialog was spectacular. It's not a movie where you could casually sit back, eat a cheese doodle, and wait for the next explosion or for someone to crack another joke. You had to pay attention to what was said and reaction it causes. The Baldwin-Blake speech at the beginning is just amazing. I'm sure many would watch and think "Geez what an A-hole this guy is" but for anyone that's been in sales that speech hits pretty close to home, and really it applies to life in general.

Pacific Rim - 5.5 / 10

I liked the concept but the acting was bad, the story line was bland and action scenes were dark / too busy.
---------
Internship - 7 / 10

It was a bit corny, but I enjoyed it.

"Glengarry Glen Ross"

Made way back in 1992. I had never seen it.

Gotta say it's an amazing film. Stunning in it's simplicity.

No sex, no car chases, no romance... Basically just 2 locations for the entire film.

The Alec Baldwin speech that occurs at the beginning of the film is one of the best "speech" pieces I've ever witnessed on any kind of screen.

And anyone that has had to do sales for a living will be jolted on how realistic this film is.

9/10.

Agree with you
Would recommend another movie "thank you for smoking" as another 'sales' movie

If your a Statham fan, he has a movie on Netflicks called Parker. If you like his stuff, you'll enjoy it. 7/10... Redemption is another of his that came out on redbox. A little bit different style if acting, but was good as well 7/10

Gravity - Hmm, I am surprised at how underwhelmed I was by this. It really isn't anything all that new. It's a survival movie in space. The big action moments are beautiful, but most of that has been seen in the trailers already. When you take that away, what remains is basically a rather simple and mediocre story hopping from one space station to the next. Clooney was annoying too...just not right for the part I don't think. I might give it a 7/10 I guess.

I was also surprised at how little the IMAX 3D impressed me. Especially the 3D. There were a few scenes that I felt immersion (Marvin Martian), but it wasn't consistent at all.

Overall, a little disappointed, but I was hoping for greatness (and it is on a technical level). Instead I just got a solid movie.

Prisoners - 7/10. Nothing really new here except what Hugh Jackman's character does, but it's all pretty solid for the most part. The performances are great, Jackman in particular. Runs a little long.

Don't Stop Believin': Everyman's Journey - movie about an obscure singer going through tough times who happily finds himself taking over as lead singer for the band Journey. Had no idea who Journey was before the movie (I guess they were big a loooong time ago), but really inspiring and fascinating story. 10/10.

Warm Bodies - As a zombie fan I could pick this movie apart all day for things that bugged me but for whatever reason I enjoyed the movie. Zombie Movie meets romeo and juliet but again for whatever reason I just enjoyed the movie.

Mean Creek - Scotty doesn't know about Fiona but scotty does know how to be a bung hole. I guess for a cheaper movie I had never heard of it was OK...but still not very good.

Cloudy Meatball 2 8/10

Never saw the first one, so I didn't know what to expect. It was so ridiculously corny, and yet funny, adorable. The kids loved it, so you can't beat that with a bat.

The Purge 4/10

predictable, uneventful, and kind of boring. For those who know the premise, I would have been much more interested in what was going on outside.

Goon: 7/10

I avoided watching this movie for the longest time because of the way it was marketed. But I was bored the other night so I checked it out on Netflix and it was not the movie I was expecting.

The thing I liked most was the lack of 'that would never happen' that you see in most sports movies. It was legitimately funny and the characters were really likable.

It may be just getting high marks from me because I was pleasantly surprised, but it was worth a watch, especially if you're a hockey person.

I don't like hockey at all...but I enjoyed the movie.

Surely, you're kidding about not knowing who Journey was/is.

Don Jon

Very enjoyable. JGL did well in his debut as a writer/director.

Hurt Locker: Suspenseful, a little cliché, 6/10

Wall Street: Seen it a million times, never fails to disappoint, 9.5/10

Traffic: I saw it for the first time a few years ago. Good movie, depiction of Mexican Cartel clipping a federal witness is far-fetched. 6.8/10

Big Fan: Extremely cliché, stupid ending. Film with no real direction of where it wanted to go. Patton Oswalt was good, his character wasn't. 2/10

Barbed Wire City: Better and more accurate look at ECW. The prize was the interviews taken right at its closing and then the subsequent interviews in 2011-2012. 7.8/10

Evocateur: Documentary on Morton Downey, Jr. Well done, but now the new cliché with modern documentaries is to use animation. Started out nicely, but dragged as they needed to cut it shorter. 6.2/10.

I'm guessing she is under 25.

I myself was born in 1969, and yes heard of the band. But never listened to them, or know who their lead singer(s) is. Only name of the band and what era they are from, that's it.

I didn't go but the wife gave it a 1 and the kid gave it a 10. Go figure.
