Doing the "I gotta rewatch some of my favourite 70's movies thing"

Here we go:

Coma - 10
Capricorn One - 10
The China Syndrome - 10
Roller Ball - 10
All the presidents men - 9
The Andromeda Strain - 9
Close Encounters - 9
Dirty Harry - 8
Westworld - 8
Salem's Lot - 7
Jaws - 7
Towering Inferno - 7
Logan's Run - 6

I don't think they make them like they used to, but every generation says that.

On another note recently watched Salem's Lot 2024
In order to compare....
Let's not......
2 out 10.

Instead of making it a mini series like the original, they just made it a movie.

It is not terrible, it is watchable and some of it is good.
However I think could have made a tad longer of a movie.

It still has that scary scene in it, although I thought it was much scarier in the original...of course I was younger when that one came out.

I watched it and thought it looks like a collection of modern takes on scenes from the original TV
/ film.

The sort of thing I'd see via YouTube's shorts.

Character development ....
Mr Straker - James Mason and ..... I've forgot his name already.

Great shame, cudda shudda been redone and remembered as a modern day classic.

Problem is one being a mini series and the other a movie.
One has the chance to develop characters more due to the length the other not so much.

When I first seen it was coming on I thought it was a remake as a mini series. Shocked it was a movie.

I watched ‘Woman of the Hour’ on Netflix. Anna Kendricks directorial debut about a serial killer in the 70s who she meets after an appearance on The Dating Game. All based on a true story. Nice job capturing the feel of time period and a solid movie overall. 7/10

I’m in the Halloween mood, so currently watching Prophecy(1979) that scarred me as a kid.
Friday the 13th (Jason) always scarred me when I was a kid. Him slow rolling through with his hockey mask.

The scene where he jumps out of the water. When we go jetskiing and are floating around, I still bring that scene up to people. Haha

Nothing special here.
Standard hit man action movie.
Couple funny parts but meh
If you like action movies and are in the mood, give it a go.

I've been on an early 90's hood movie kick.

Menace II Society: 6/10

Has a lot of elements that could have made it a lot better, but overall, it's weak. I never really liked this once.

South Central: 5/10

Again, I never liked this one and still don't. It's OK, but nothing special.

Boyz n The Hood: 8/10

Solid plot, good acting. Ice Cube is actually really good for his role. Lawrence Fishburne is great, too.

Fresh: 7/10

The plot is really complex and is nice. It combines chess, drug dealing, etc. It's a little slow at times, but one of my favorites in the category.

Above the Rim: 5/10

Bad acting, bad plot, but watchable.

New Jack City: 7/10

Horrible, over the top acting, but entertaining and fun to watch for me.

Anyone that does a hood classics marathon will always get a like from me but damn Menace getting a 6. That movie is no worse than a 9. I still respect your opinion though.

I was good with your list until Above the Rim. That's a classic. Bad acting? 2Pac was fantastic as Bishop.
