Don't forget about IMAX movies. Watched "Hidden Universe" and being a space nerd I thought it was awesome. Also "Flight of the Butterflies" and "Titans of the Stone Age" were great too.

"Rituals"

One of the relatively unknown quality horror movies out there. Maybe because it's older (made in 1977) or that it was a Canadian product or maybe because only recently could you get it in a DVD release.

But anyway it's a very good and very early "slasher/outdoor survival" films. Stars Hal Holbrook as one of five doctors dropped off in the Canadian wilderness, who are systematically hunted down and killed.

I haven't watched this movie since the late 1980's, but even today it holds up well. Not a big body count as far as slasher movies go but the character development is very good and it's refreshing that it's a story built around middle-aged folks and not young kids like we see in many/most slasher films.

Not a great film, but entertaining for anyone into horror films.

8 out of 10

I thought it was hilarious and the little boy stole the movie imo!

"Only God forgives"

5 out 10... Started off confusing as hell, but ended decently. Irrelevant characters in there. The Russian (?) director overdid the whole slow motion thing. It worked well for Drive, but you can't keep doing it.

Nope, never heard of it until talk of the movie. I hear it has a lot more depth.

The book was really good. I'd be interested in hearing from someone who read it and then saw the movie, but I'll probably go check it out anyway. Should have saved my free passes for this i/o of Gravity. Oh well...

I shall fulfill your wish.

The movie is basically the book in a condensed form. Duh, right? No, its really condensed and literally feels like someone is fast forwarding through the movie.

SPOILER*

There is no mention of the three political parties of earth.
Peter is only in one scene and neither him nor Valentine take on their political alter-ego's.
Battle school is insanely rushed and Ender is promoted every 10 minutes.
Enders "tablet game" is really bland.
Although not incredibly important it is never revealed to the audience how Mazer is alive and well 50 years later.
After the assumed genocide of the buggers (which they never refer to them as) it is not made apparent enough to the viewer that the buggers had mistaken humans as non-sentient.
Valentine never joins Ender on the newly created colony and she has no idea Ender finds the bugger egg.

I enjoyed the movie because I basically filled in the blanks in my head using the visuals at hand.

Yeah, seems like all of that positive from Drive went to Refn's head. I haven't seen this yet due to viewers comments such as yours. I've seen a couple clips and it just looks weird. I enjoyed the heck out of Drive though.

Drive was pretty phenomenal... Refn just totally over did it.. I'd still watch it though. Don't set your expectations high, expecting "Drive".. I think the Refn has talent, just can't let it get to his head.

Orson Scott Card is a bigot. I dislike him for being one. I also dislike Woody Allen for being a pedophile.

I didn't realize. After reading his Wiki, he seems to have religious issues with homosexuality. While I do not think this makes one a bigot in itself, I don't know enough about his actions to make a conclusion either way. I certainly don't recall and undertones in the work of his that I have read.

Actually, he is the definition of bigot.

Bigot:
a person who is obstinately or intolerantly devoted to his or her own opinions and prejudices; especially : one who regards or treats the members of a group with hatred and intolerance

Well, by that definition, you would be a bigot as well for your intolerance of bigots :)
