Rate the last movie you saw

(watching horror films for Halloween time :D )

Sidenote: I love watching horror films around this time of year, and AMC usually runs them up through the 31st. I just wish they had a little more variety. It seems like they just play the 'Halloween' movies back-to-back, over and over again.

I love you to death.

When she shot him in the back of the head... Funny stuff

The very first movie I saw with my wife. I guess I was more interested in her because the movie was kind of bleh.

I did like him in the movie where he subbed for the president and one with Kevin Spacey Consenting Adults

Gravity kept me on the edge of my chair the entire time. I was a nervous wreck when I got out of there.

"Scream" 1996.

Yeah, I've watched it dozens of times.

And the last 1/2 hour is still one of the best last 1/2 hours of any movie.

The first hour isn't too shabby either!

This movie "re-lit" the horror genre after a decade's slumber.

8.5 out of 10

As you should have been. I thought movie had more than a few laughs.

I liked that pres movie too.

How's Favre? Lol

So I'm still catching up on "horror" / "scary" type of movies currently, in light of Halloween time...

Last night I finally watched the "remake" of "The Thing". I had been purposely not watching it for years because I could not ever imagine how someone could actually remake that classic. I mean, they might as well try to remake Blade Runner or Alien or 2001 A Space Odyssey for all the good it would do them, ya know?

Anyway, I had NO CLUE that this "remake" was what it ended up being. None. When the bass line hit at the end and the helicopter lifted, tracking the dog...wow. The bulb finally lit. I had been thinking, up to that point, wow, that's some fresh takes on the old classic that are kind of sort of like before, but different, and not at all bad...and the special effects were pretty good, and I kept wondering why most everyone kept speaking in Norwegian or whatever it is...

I have to give this film a pretty solid 8.5 out of 10, in the end.

I even did not delete it from my DVR, intending to watch it again...(yes, I've had it on DVR for a few years I think! )

Wow, I have to disagree with you on this one. I loved the original, but thought the remake was mediocre (except for some of the aliens manifestations, which I found to be pretty cool).

Yeah, it's not a remake, but was a prequel.

I enjoyed it.

I thought some of the stuff towards the end inside the space ship was nonsensical, but overall I liked the film.

More like 7/10.

Here's one for Halloween...

"Hotel Hell"

Shot in 1960, I first watched it as a youngster in the late 60's as a Saturday night "Creature Feature".

A great film that was no doubt done on a slim budget. The atmosphere is stunning. It achieves a depth of horror in black & white that color couldn't achieve.

Kind of like the movie "Psycho" in that who we think is the "star" of the film is killed half-way through.

While the film was shot in the UK, it's suppose to be located in Massachusetts.

Highly recommended.

8.5 out of 10.

Oooh, I should have this tomorrow for more Halloween viewing! :)

A Tale of Two Sisters
(Janghwa, Hongryeon)2003NR115 minutes
After their mother's death, two sisters must exorcise their home possessed by two dark forces -- their evil new stepmother and a vengeful entity. But with an indifferent father, can the girls free their home from its demons?

The Bad Grandpa. I thought it was great. I love the raunchy comedy stuff that Johnny Knoxville does and it all reminds me of the group of friends I had growing up. It's not for everybody but if you like to laugh at mindless stuff it's great.

Really like movies "Bad Grandpa" and "Borat" etc.

We saw Gravity this weekend. It was suspenseful and engaging. I'd give it a 7.5/10. Sandra Bullock fans will like this movie.
