10....why you ask ?

i guess it comes from being a long time baseball fan where its fairly
common to begin each season with a renewed sense of optimism
and hope.

does it mean i dont see potential or obvious problems ? NOPE

but i just enjoy it more if i think about all the good possibilities
instead of the doomday scenarios.

plenty of time for that once the season actually starts.

So me not thinking that this cowboy team is any good equates to me being an idiot I love it.

I'm still a fan this isn't the first season I routed for the cowboys and we had a bad season. I grew up on the Campo years.

Thank God

Now I feel better about this team

You shouldn't. Although I have been wrong at times like everyone else I have also been right. Everyone is quick to jump one me about how I felt Felix was a bust. But no one was higher on Tashard Choice than I was. But it's whatever you win some oyu lose seem.

6.752

I like our O, I like us killing time off the clock but would like to capitalize and score more points. No penalties or TOs to kill the drive.
Penalties still irk me
and The D im not completely sold on. would like for us to create more TOs.

I'm at a 6 right now.

It's not about our talent. I have faith there. The jury is still out on the coaching staff.

Our depth is shaky as well.

I think Romo will have a great year though.

Like TwoDeep, I'm not sold on the defense. We have a new starting OLB, two very young CBs, and little depth along the DL.

i also think a 6 right now for all of the same reason stated above. but this team does not pay attention to detail in crucial moments of drives right now. penalties that end drives. then the defense giving up to many points in the two minute drives at the end of the half and last night at the end of the game. it will cost us atleast two loses or more this year in my opionion.

Five- very little confidence in the coaching staff, not much in the O Line backups.

No, it's pretty much the lack of intelligence:laugh2:

Thanks for the Debbie Downer thread, Slate. :lmao:

I'd rate our team about an 8. I think the team concept is there this year and the apparent emergence of Kevin Ogletree is exciting. What remains to be seen is if we can keep the foot on the gas all season or if we peter out after ingesting too much L-Tryptophan. :)

What I read here is that you're young and don't know much about football, if you a) grew up watching the Campo years and b) said Felix Jones was going to be a bust. You trying to use your alleged thoughts about Tashard Choice (who IS 3rd string if you haven't realized) is nothing more than a pathetic attempt to pigeonhole your entire argument on one claim to say "see! I'm right!"

Weaksauce.

Are you planning on watching every Cowboy game this year? Because with a 3 then don't even bother man. Wasting your time.

5/10

Positives

- I feel a lot better about the OL depth after these actual games.

- Our young WRs have made progress

- Tony Romo may finally be getting a hold on all of the fumbles.

Negatives

- The same problems are still plaguing what is probably a less talented team. Sloppy football, penalties out of the wazoo, can't force turnovers, and leaving points on the board.

- These young WRs that have made progress have done nothing in the NFL. Roy E. Williams is the least questionable WR we have. I want him to flourish in Dallas, but eh I don't know. I'm not convinced entirely that he won't go into the tank and that he can stay healthy. After him, it's a lot of guys that need to prove it in the regular season.

- Tony Romo is probably still going to throw a bunch of interceptions. Be it from pass catchers running bad routes, them mis-communicating or him being Romo.

- Run defense. It's still shaky as heck. Teams that commit to running will eventually pound the Cowboys into submission. I really wish the Cowboys would get a more traditional nose tackle. The best defense the Cowboys will have against the run is scoring points and I'm not that most confident that the Cowboys will do lots of that.

On the whole, I feel better about these team after the preseason, but I'm still nowhere close to sold that they can be better than maybe 9-7. For the first time in a few seasons, my hopes are just that we don't finish last in the division. I don't think that's good.

I say 8 at this point, but if they come out looking really good against Tampa, it may go up a bit. The first team O and D look like they can hang with anyone, even with the penalties, but the penalties need to cease. Special teams look only slightly better at this point.

So what has changed since draft day?

Roy Williams can play but is he going to replace TO? Our depth along the OL, DL and at LB has not gotten any better. We continue to outdraw our opponents in penalties.

All the above said, the two TE offense looks solid and we can move the football (assuming we hold the penalties down). Special teams look better overall and Kitna is better than Johnson (although that isn't saying much).

So with this picture, I am supposed to rate my "confidence" in this Cowboys team. Confidence to do.....what? Win the division, go deep into the playoffs, win the conference championship? The team will win some games but this team is also no slam dunk IMO. If we stay injury free things might go very well, but I'm doubting that scenario. I'll go with a slightly abouve neutral....6. You folks at both ends of the spectrum strike me as being way too confident.

My confidence is pretty high right now, so I'll say 8. I would go higher except for the penalties and special teams. STs looked good last night so that concern my be unwarranted but I want to see some consistency there before I disregard it. I don't know if our stupid O'line will ever clean up their act.

Your observation is not too far off the mark.

Look at our December schedule. Brutal.

That pretty much tells me all I need to know about you. Not your fault, you just haven't experienced any success as a Cowboy fan. Makes it very hard to see the light at the end of the tunnel.

I'm at a nine. The OL play this preseason has me giddy. It was my only concern.
