Ray Allen isn't doing anything different from players like Barkley, Drexler, Malone and Payton just to name a few.

Plus I heard he only went to the Heat to be closer to his kids... </sarcasm>

Steve Nash was a sign and trade lmao. He wasn't under contract. He chose LA just like Allen chose Miami. The difference is, Allen turned down double the money and a no trade clause to go to Miami. Nash did a sign and trade to get more money and go to LA. I don't really care about what either did, but if you want to compare them there you go.

It seems as though Nash had more options and was also dealing with an organization willing to do a sign and trade. It also appears to me that once the Clippers bailed out that Allen's choices were only between the Heat and the Celtics. I think his deteriorating relationship with Rondo and the fact that he felt disrespected by the Celtics organization was something he could not move past.

I could care less though, I'm glad he's a Heat....

Championship!

Ray Allen shot 45% from three point range last year, which was his best ever. The year before he shot 44% which was his second best ever. Can you imagine what his shooting percentage will be with the type of looks Battier, Miller and Chalmers get from playing with LeBron and Wade?

Allen is a good player, but he's on the decline and certainly doesn't guarantee a championship. Miami is the favorite, but as we've seen in recent years being the championship favorite means nothing.

Nope, but he solidifies them as the favorites and his shooting is actually getting better. I also hope we can land Camby. We could use his defense/rebounding against Howard/Bynum.

Well there's three teams right now in the Camby sweepstakes. Miami, Brooklyn, and New York. Neither of those teams have any more cap space and Camby isn't taking the vets minimum. Whoever gets him will have to get him in a sign and trade.

OK, Steve Nash is a great player but he is on the decline as well... I agree with you though; screw Miami they aren't getting anything.

here is the thing about this signing, ray allen is a good player, and he is clutch, but that does absolutely nothing to shore up the heat's biggest weaknesses, point guard and center. its a great addition, but it doesnt make them any more unbeatable than before, they could still be burned by a top PG or a good big man like bynum, TD, KG or howard

I really don't think so. He only played 31 mpg this past season and was still 2nd in the league in assists with 10.7. That's very, very impressive. He's still an incredibly efficient as far as shooting the ball. Dude shoots 53 percent and he's like 6"2. Unreal. I still cannot believe we got him for draft picks.

Lebron James is their point guard.

Steve Nash is still a great player, you're correct. But he is still on the decline. Great signing though.

then who is their small forward?

Mario Chalmers is their point guard and he's a very good player. He's basically a more athletic version of a prime Derek Fisher.

i just fail to see how anyone can sit here and say that the heat are MORE unbeatable now because they have this great backup SG now. i think signing camby would do more to shore up their weaknesses. its a good addition, but it doesnt make them any more scary than they were before, its like an NFL team signing a good backup RB or a third receiver while they still have a hole at left tackle

in fact, i think the absolute best thing about this singing is it weakens their biggest threat in the eastern conference, not that it improves their own team that much more.

Doesn't really weaken Boston since they signed Terry. Terry is much more versatile than Allen since he can create his own shot.

my point is that he was a lot more important to the celtics than he is to the heat. terry is more of a combo guard anyway, not a true 2 guard or pg, they do different things on the floor. however, i agree, i think terry will be a huge addition to the celtics, he gives them what they desperately need, a guy that can light it up offensively on any given night, they needed his offense.
