No it's not. One guy has a ring and had a chance to win another one with the same team, but jumped ship to the team that beat him. The other guy doesn't have a ring and didn't have a chance to win a ring with the same team. Completely different scenarios.

Completely different in that one went to your favorite team and the other didn't.

That's about the only difference that matters in this.

I have no issue with either guy wanting to go somewhere else, no matter how that comes about, to go after a ring.

People can piss and moan about how a player does it but at the end of the day we always see people say "It's all about winning, about being a champion."

Well if that's the case then you do what has to be done to get that ring. Allen has one and he knows he wants another. I don't see how it makes him a bad guy, or anything like that, if he sees that Miami is obviously a much better oppurtunity for him to win another one than Boston was.

The Heat don't need a true PG because the have LeBron and Wade just like the Bulls didn't need one because of Jordan and Pippen. The Heat need spot up shooters who can play defense and that's Ray Allen.

Ray Allen is probably the best 3pt shooter in NBA history. He ain't no back-up RB or third receiver. On top of that the so called hole the NBA champions have isn't nearly as important as the LT position is in the NFL. That's not a good comparison. It's not 1995, centers aren't dominating the NBA right now, perimeter players are.

they might not need a true point guard to run the offense, but they need someone to guard the point guard, lebron and wade can do it in spots, but if they are guarding guys like steve nash or paul that just run them through screens constantly and get to anywhere on the court they want, they are going to be worn out. so what then, just keep calling time outs and switch offense/defense? thats what i mean by allen being a situational player at this stage in his career. he might still have a sweet jump shot, but his playing time decline had just as much to do with his inability to stay healthy.

this is 2012, ray allen is 36, almost 37 and cant stay healthy, LT on the Jets is a spot on comparison.

see, i agree, i think its cool when players are loyal, but if they want to leave for a better situation, its their prerogative. i think we would all move to a better city and to a better job if the opportunity arose. The reason i hated lebron going to miami was because of HOW he did it, not that he did.

I'm not sure which one of us is confused but when I mentioned "LT" I was referencing your comment about the Left Tackle position in your previous post.

I'm not too worried about defending the quicker PGs because the Heat know how to play team defense and they have plenty of bodies to through at those guys.

As far as Allen not being able to stay healthy, Ray Allen takes very good care of his body and is in tremendous shape. Last year was not the norm for Allen, over the last 5 years in Boston he has played 73, 79, 80, 80 and 46 games. Now go compare that to Ginobili and Parker and then tell me who can't stay healthy.

way to lose credibility on the subject. have you ever seen the spurs play? and ray allen? ray allen is a catch and shoot, run people through screens without the ball type of player, ginobili and parker, like wade, are slash and score type players, of course they are going to get hurt more often! to take it back to football, its like comparing the durability of a corner with a RB

and im still failing to see what point you are trying to make, ray allen isnt going to be in games at he end on all situations, thats a fact, ray allen is old, thats a fact, old guys get hurt more often, thats a fact. he is the fourth best player on the team, at best, and will come off the bench, i dont know why you are getting so offended, its 2012 not 2005.

You said Ray Allen couldn't stay healthy. I guess now your saying he doesn't get hurt as much as players who are slashers. Who cares, my point is that he, for the most part, does stay healthy and I provided proof of that. I even gave you a couple of people to compare him against. Don't like those comparisons, then try Mike Miller or Richard Hamilton. The results are the same.

No ones offended, my point is and has always been that Ray Allen was a good signing for the Heat and it clearly makes them better.

i think its a great signing, i just think that you have to expect that its very likely he will get hurt because of his age and the fact that he played with bone spurs for so long. it was admirable, but playing though injuries usually makes it worse, and i know at least for me, it made me suffer other injuries just from overcompensation. it should be pretty evident if he is back to full health early next year though.

if he can get back to 100%, he should be able to stay there because of his style, i just dont know that he can come back fully form that injury at this point in his career, but we will just have to wait and see.

No arguments here! I do think he'll be fine though.
