my point is that he was a lot more important to the celtics than he is to the heat. terry is more of a combo guard anyway, not a true 2 guard or pg, they do different things on the floor. however, i agree, i think terry will be a huge addition to the celtics, he gives them what they desperately need, a guy that can light it up offensively on any given night, they needed his offense.

I'm not so sure that's true. This past season in Boston Ray Allen was their 6th man just like he'll be in Miami. He was pissed because he was coming off the bench, but in Miami it'll be the same thing.

he was the sixth man, but like ginobili and terry, he played when it mattered. i dont know that he is going to be on the floor for the heat in the end of games if wade and lebron are healthy unless they need a three or his FTs

I don't think he would've signed with Miami unless they promised him he'd be on the floor in crunchtime. Could see them going with either of the following lineups.

Chalmers
Wade
Allen
James
Bosh

Or

Wade
Allen
Battier
James
Bosh

really? and if they are playing the lakers?

nash
kobe
artest
gasol
bynum

which one of those guys is he gonna guard? and which one is the supposed PF lebron going to guard? he wont be on the floor if the heat are playing a team with a traditional lineup, like the bulls, pacers, knicks, etc

i think he left the celtics because he was tired of being involved in trade talks, and danny ainge is a weasel that would trade him in a heartbeat if he felt he was getting something good in return. thats why he was asking for a no trade clause. Miami isnt going to trade him with the little bit of money they are giving him.

i just fail to see how anyone can sit here and say that the heat are MORE unbeatable now because they have this great backup SG now. i think signing camby would do more to shore up their weaknesses. its a good addition, but it doesnt make them any more scary than they were before, its like an NFL team signing a good backup RB or a third receiver while they still have a hole at left tackle

The Heat don't need a true PG because the have LeBron and Wade just like the Bulls didn't need one because of Jordan and Pippen. The Heat need spot up shooters who can play defense and that's Ray Allen.

Ray Allen is probably the best 3pt shooter in NBA history. He ain't no back-up RB or third receiver. On top of that the so called hole the NBA champions have isn't nearly as important as the LT position is in the NFL. That's not a good comparison. It's not 1995, centers aren't dominating the NBA right now, perimeter players are.

Double team off of Artest and make him beat you but the real question is, who is Nash and Gasol going to guard?

That's exactly why he left the Celtics plus he didn't get along with Rondo.

They offered him a no trade clause in Boston, and double the money.

It was too little, too late. He already felt disrespected by Ainge and Rivers and had a bad relationship with Rondo, possibly based in jealousy from what i read.

It'll definitely take some time getting to see them both in different jerseys.

Hopefully he shoots as well for Miami as he did for Boston this post season.

It's the NBA.

Players move so often it's almost a part time job just keeping up with who is where.

Ray Allen's NBA resume is older than you are.

1st game and both will look like they've been there forever.

Yeah, but when a player is with a certain team for so long then all of sudden they change teams and it's just wierd seeing them in a different uniform.

Actually, that photo needs to be retouched because there aint no way Nash plays in a 13 jersey. That just aint gonna happen.

Five years is not that long in the big scheme of things and that is how long Allen was in Boston. He was with two other teams before that for almost the same amount of time, a little longer with Milwaukee. Now Steve Nash is a Phoenix staple. He was there for 8 straight years(10 total if you count the beginning of his career) and really was the centerpiece of the offense whereas Ray Allen was just a complimentary piece in Boston.

This!

It also seems that the general consensus is that Allen will get more playing time in Miami than he would have in Boston. Seems like a no brainer - more playing time and a better shot at a ring + living in Miami instead of Boston = smart move.
