Ray Sherman not returning

How do we know what went down? Maybe they did offer him an extension but he thought he may have better opportunities waiting. Maybe he did not want to be stuck as a WR's coach for the next 2, 3 or 4 years. Maybe they simply could not come to an agreement in general. I think we are jumping the gun just assuming Sherman was shown the door with out an attempt to retain him.

That's why i later said the entire story is not known to the public. Hopefully it is soon and we can all move on. But I'd be a fool not to acknowledge that from the outside looking in, it looks bad. But again, I dont know the full story yet...

And complaining before they even see who the replacement position coach is.

It is amazing.

What's amazing? That one of the better coaches we've seen in the last few years is just walking?

It's not like there are tons of quality coaches who are available. Why do you think people are hoping beyond all hopes that Bowles gets the DC shot.

Sherman was interviewed for HC and now were supposed to believe that an equal quality WR coach will be brought in just out of nowhere?

I think this is a big loss for Dallas whether anyone wants to admit it or not. Sherman was more than position coach.

Sounds like Jason didn't like the way Sherman was a buffer between the WR's and himself and allowed them to vent to him aboutt Garrett and their disagreements with the offense.

I like Sherman but can't really fault JG since he probably wants his guys and this loyal to him and his plan.

For the last time, I GET IT. I liked Sherman myself (I loved what he did with Miles).

Maybe Garrett didn't, maybe Sherman didn't want to be here anymore, who knows? NO ONE on this board knows what went in behind closed doors at VR.

The Cowboys aren't going to cease to exist because Sherman is gone.

Oh, and don't kid yourself about certain posters on this board who CLEARLY want JG to fail so that they can thumb their nose at everyone else. They'll be clearly identifiable as the ones who protest nearly every move he makes.

And some people would prefer said young coach not jettison a widely respected WR coach, and one of the few assistants whose units didn't completely suck.

Can they do that without being accused of wanting JG to fail?

Didn't see where Sherman had released a statement.

Hey, if he doesn't want to be back, that's fine.

Too bad, i really did like him. Maybe he can go somewhere and get a real HC interview. He should get a shot a a head coaching job.

These guys seriously make money doing this?

I dont even know what to say and before anyone jumps, this has nothing to do with his rooney rule comment but everything to do with his total failure acknowledge Dallas did interview two minority candidates.

It is amazing that they employ people this blatantly stupid

I have no complaint about him naming his own staff. That's how it sound be -- I've said that forever.

But I think most people believed, with some basis, that Sherman was maybe the best assistant coach on the entire team. I'm surprised that he of all people is being let go.

If it's all about hating Garrett, why are some of his biggest fans also expressing their disappointment in this thread?

Because people belly-ache here. Its what they do.

What in the world is the big deal? It's a freaking WR coach. We'll find another and potentially find one even better.

It's not like our wideouts had an amazing year. They were one of our biggest weaknesses for quite a few games.

Thank you Ray Sherman for doing a fine job coaching the Cowboys receivers for the last 4 years. Good luck in the future. The truth about what happened may never come out, but regardless I'm on the Garrett bandwagon. Let him mold the coaching staff and team however he sees fit.

I think I'm going to just go ahead and give up trying to predict Jason's staff and trust that he knows what he's doing.

I also think people should stop being premature over this one. Perhaps with his WR coach contract running out, Jason plans to allow him to interview for other teams for a chance to move up, in addition to interviewing for the Cowboys.

Remember, Jason did say that everyone will be evaluated.

this was my thought as well, we certainly don't have much information at this point to draw much of a conclusion as to why and how the decision was made.

Although I like Sherman, I like the move better. This team is in dire need of new voices throughout the locker room. I hope to see more changes throughout the upcoming days.

He was the only position coach I wanted back. Would like to know more details about his future plans. Not happy.

Calvin had to throw that it at the end so it does not look like he jumped the gun with his ridiculous comments earlier. We are now getting a glimpse that the media might not know what they think they know.

Jerry does Sherman a favor and interviews him then this is how he shows his appreciation, just walks away.................
