Lol, did you watch the actual plays?
If he doesn’t have a crease he struggles to squeeze out a yard. This is the NFL you have to be able to slip and break a few tackles. You have to be able to push a defender back.

I'll answer my question. It's because they are getting him ready to play in the 1st game with Dak. That's why.
He won’t be playing much if any with Dak in the first game. If they were getting him ready to play with Dak he would be playing sooner than he has. He continues to be our fourth back.

I suspect that he gets at least 5 touches in the 1st game.

Rb - pollard, dowdle duece - Davis to practice squad
Last year Dowdle beat out Davis for an active spot at RB until he went on IR.
I hadn't realized this, but he was playing 70% ST snaps before IR too. I think the ST snaps that give him a roster spot for the season. It was Dowdle or Davis as the 3rd RB + ST last year. That's an established role.

Dowdle playing special teams makes Davis expendable. Davis being expendable gets Duece active - maybe. But if they bring on board a veteran RB once the season starts, I'd think that Deuce goes to the PS.

We got a lot of specialists in the backfield. Turpin, Duece, Luepke. Hard for Duece to make the roster until Turpin is gone *or* they think they can go with Dowdle as #2 long term.

Simi has limited catching skills... poor ball tracking skills and he's stiff, he has to have free release off the line, cannot stop & re-start well, and
has to build up running momentum.

Project toy experiment should be over.

I'd rather have Dennis Houston on practice squad than Simi...
Thought the Simi experiment was over a while ago when McCarthy made some noise about Simi gaining weight and becoming a TE.
That was another way of saying "Simi can't make it at WR. Let's try something else."

None of the backs would have gotten anything on those carries.

He needs to make plays in preseason to get opportunities during the regular season. Both Dowdle and Davis made plays last night against better caliber players. Seems like you’ve finally come to the realization that Vaughn won’t be one of our top two backs entering the regular season.

Actually I think that he will have the 2nd most carries on the team behind Pollard.

I guess Luepke will be starting too, since he got snaps with the ones as well. And was specifically credited with looking very good in pass pro.
So help me with the logic here, since it seems to have changed for Duece.
You've said Duece is our #2.
Dowdle and Davis have played the first half of both games. They too have gotten reps with the 1s.
So, by your logic, are they fighting for the 3rd spot? With the loser going to the PS?
And because Duece is so good and looked so awesome at K State, they don't need to see him play with our 2s? But they do have him playing, just not until the second half against the other teams scrubs. So by your logic, is that just because they dont think he'll het hurt against the srubs? And if they think he is so much better than Dowdle and Davis, why play him at all. Most of ya'll had him splitting snaps with Pollard before camp began.
So please, explain.

Only problem with Dowdle is he’s never been able to stay healthy. Expect them to keep Ronald Jones folks

RoJo still has a part in this. Not sure what though. By accounts, he was looking good before the suspension/injury. I have no idea where they sit with him. He could be cut or he could be our #2.
The backup, whomever it is, needs to be a 3 down guy. The 3rd needs to play special teams.
Right now, thats
Pollard
Dowdle
Davis

RoJo could obviously shake that up. As could a post camp signing.

It's like we play against different teams here. We're always fighting or arguing against OUR OWN PLAYERS.
The team isnt our team until final cuts and signings. Right now we have roughly 30 guys who won't be on this team in a week and a half.
And I'll support those 53, regardless of who they are. But I encourage constructive criticism of each player. Not all 53 are pro bowlers. There will always be ways to improve. We all have different views on who should be paid and how much.
Thats why boards like this exist. Or at least how they worked in the past.
If this is simply a rah rah, go cowboys, cowboys great board, then clearly I need to move on.

Wr- lamb, cooks, gallop, Tolbert, Turpin and someone else not named fehoko. Pick young/fast guy who can play special teams.
Yeah, Brooks may get the final WR spot....now the main concern is backup OL.....Ball, Waletzko, Hoffman, Taylor....crap......cut their arses. All these guys just not ready to be one step from starting. Some not even on the team.
