Uh, he just absolutely torched the DB against Seattle and was wide open but the ball was way underthrown. Should have been a 40-yard PI, and a good throw was a TD.

But like, what has Houston ever done? Or Brooks? Or whoever. #6 WRs never do anything lol. The threat of a big play is more valuable than a low-ceiling chain mover in that role.
and the ball hit Simi right in the hands as he still could not track and come up with the deep ball.

..again what good is it being a great athlete when you do not have the receiving skills to come up with the ball ?

Dennis Houston made the 53 roster last year.
And he's already been the 2nd most productive receiver we have in this preseason.

Because coming up with 1 in 5 deep balls is a far more valuable skill than anything Houston can do. There's a reason he didn't stick, despite how poor the WR room was.

google? the HC name is Mike McCarthy and the players name is Duece Vaughn.
Thats what I thought. Nothing. At least not in the last couple of weeks or so.
He did say something to the effect of having some plays he could run. That was at the start of camp.
Hes also talked up Turpin and Dowdle. Luepke has looked good in pass pro in practice. And those were actually relatively recent.

Jeesh. Guess having your dad working for the team has its perks.
Just roll out of college and have a spot handed to you. No need to bother with little things like actually playing meaningful snaps in pre season or anything.
If the game time confirms your impressions of practice and his college tape, why does it have to be about his dad?

I don’t particularly care which way the coaches go at the 6 spot for WR.

The spot should go to who can 1. Contribute the most on special teams and/or 2. Who the coaches think has the higher upside or chance to develop into something.

I do agree with your prior post. If whoever our 6th receiver is getting any meaningful snaps on offense, it means we have suffered a terrible amount of injuries to our WR Corp and we are boned anyway.

That's something that a troll or an ignorant person comes up with.

He's an insider. With an obvious interest in a certain player. Who happens to be the dad of that player.
Dont know if you're a dad, but most dads would do pretty much anything to help their kids be successful.
He dad works in the scouting department. That is code for he has nothing to do with determining who makes the 53. He doesn't make the cuts or even have a say in that entire process. He isn't a "insider that covers the team".

He looked better last week. He averaged 2.8 a carry last night. You call that a step forward? Lol
Did you see his TD run? I don’t think another RB on the roster could have made that play. He may need a little bit more daylight than a player like Zeke in order to get a yard, but he is a house call waiting to happen. The explosion and quickness is quite obviously rare. Deployed correctly, he will be a weapon.

His skill set is among the most unique in the league and more valuable than a JAG like Davis that could be replaced by nearly any other late round or UDFA cut from another roster.

Pollard, Dowdle, Deuce should be your three RBs with Davis stashed on the practice squad in the event of an injury. You can feel OK about that group even if they aren’t elite.

Just as there was a reason why Houston made the 53 man roster, despite average athleticism.

I saw the run, and it was a terrific run, but he did nothing after that. It’s going to be much tougher finding daylight in the regular season against starters. We can’t have negative carries and he had at least a couple last week. It’s definitely going to be Pollard and Dowdle and we’ll see who ends up the third and fourth back.

I can't wait to the regular season. You will say something like you take away the 2 touchdowns and he did nothing.

So you have Vaughn scoring 2 TDs opening day?

His dad, Jerry. Whatever the reason. They are handling him differently than any other rookie. If we are to believe posters on this board.
Pre season games are to see rookies and bubble players. At least thats how it should be.
And you play the players that have been showing out in practice early in those games. See how they hold up against another team.
And as the game progresses you work in players down the depth chart.
Seems reasonable, right? Thats how its worked every year, until now.
Duece hasnt played the first half of either game. Hes currently 4th or 5th on the depth chart if you base it on the above logic.
But logic is thrown out the window on here.
Ive heard Duece has some very special 3rd down role locked up and just doesn't need to play much or play against the other teams best players.
And Dowdle and Davis are battling for RB2. And even if they both look good, playing against the other teams ONES, the loser goes to the practice squad and duece still stays.
And this doesnt even take into consideration RoJo, whos status is a complete unknown right now.
So if this board is right, then all previous logic is out the window and SOMEONE decided to hand duece a spot without any competition.
Or the board is wrong and duece ends up on the PS, as his current position on the depth chart would indicate.

McCarthy said during OTA's they were working on plays for him. How anyone could read that alone and think he isn't making the 53 is beyond me.
