Really honest question here. If the coaching staff really think Duece is better than Davis, as you believe, then why hasnt Duece played in the first half of either game?
To me its a legit question that no one wants to answer.
Because they are trying to decide whether Davis or Dowdle is the other back. That’s where the decision is, so you give them the chance to duke it out

I think one possible scenario is that it’s not a matter of deuce being better or whatever.

I think that they have a specific role for deuce in mind. Deuce is going to make the roster and serve specific purposes.

Meanwhile Rico and Malik are battling for the “#2” RB spot. To be the primary backup RB incase of injury or to give pollard breathers.

Whether Rico or Malik is the #2 guy (I think it will be Rico) deuce is still going to have his own defined role.

This is likely why Rico and Malik are “starting” in preseason as they are direct competition with each other and deuce isn’t because he is in his own role.
Got it. So no need to see duece in this top secret role against the other teams best players. Just sneak him in during the second half. Thats a great way of determining if he can play or not.
At least you're not proclaiming hes going to be Pollards backup, I hope thats what you're saying. That comes down to Dowdle, Davis and maybe Jones. So if they are all neck and neck lets say, we still just toss, lets say Davis to the PS? And if Jones is still in the mix and somehow ends up as the #2, then both Dowdle and Davis go to the PS? And since duece cant play special teams, then we need to find someone else to do so, since we just put the two guys who have been doing it on the PS.
Then that leaves duece with most likely about 5 plays a game and nothing else. Thats about what Sproles averaged. But Sproles was bigger, faster and a better player than duece. And Sproles biggest contribution came in the return game.
So you're going to use up a very valuable roster spot for a guy who may give you 5 plays a game? Even considering we have Turpin who can do what duece will be asked to do.
Because whomever the RB2 is, they will be the one giving Pollard a breather.
We'll see how it shakes out, but thats definitely not how Id handle the situation.

He is a silly guy. He likes to mess with people. He was claiming that Deuce wouldn't be on the roster last week.
You just love running your mouth, dont you Jimbo. And for the record, I've said he wouldnt be on the roster a couple days after he was drafted.

Jeesh. Guess having your dad working for the team has its perks.
Just roll out of college and have a spot handed to you. No need to bother with little things like actually playing meaningful snaps in pre season or anything.

To be fair, Deuce is a little guy.

That’s the big thing going against him.

He’s super fast though.

Nobody is saying top secret.

What I’m saying is. Is that deuces role is going to be different than primary backup.

Which for us has been a special teams guy. Which duece cant do.
So hes not the backup and he wont play special teams. And Turpin can do what he does and probably better.
And you still want to throw away a roster spot for him?
Makes zero sense. But a great gig if you can get it. He'll be even less involved than our kickers.

You know whats really funny, is how the bar has been lowered for duece. Pun intended.
He started out as being the next Sanders and should be handed Emmitts number.
Then it was hes a lot like Sanders, but not, but hes definitely Sproles and will replace Turpin.
Then its, well he cant return or play special teams so he will split carries with Pollard and will be our #2.
Now its, he'll be our #3 only for very specific 3rd down packages not yet revealed.
Whats next?
This is playing out exactly as Ive said. The hype has subsided some, except for the die hard duecers. This weekends game will be interesting. Does he finally get put out there with the starters? Does he only go in during the second half? Do they sit him?
In my view, if its anything but him getting significant playing time with whatever starters we throw out there, then hes PS bound. As I've said all along.

What's really funny is you saying that he is going to the practice squad when the insiders that cover the team are saying he is on the team and they plan to use him in the offense in the 1st game.

Simi has limited catching skills... poor ball tracking skills and he's stiff, he has to have free release off the line, cannot stop & re-start well, and
has to build up running momentum.

Project toy experiment should be over.

I'd rather have Dennis Houston on practice squad than Simi...
This is nonsense. Simi is a terrific athlete and consistently wins deep.

He struggles tracking the ball, I think, but that's a lot of NFL WRs, especially down on the depth chart.

Dennis Houston isn't an NFL athlete.

People are just making up reasons not to like Simi lol

All of them that cover the team. You can't be that ignorant. You think that you know more than they do. That's hilarious. Obviously you are just trolling people or are incredibly ignorant.

Rico or Malik will be playing special teams.

Deuce will also probably have a role On a couple of special teams units.

Deuce is going to be involved in the offense.

That’s what I think.

We will find out in a few weeks

MM came out and said literally "We need to get Turpin and Duece the ball on offense" but sure what he meant was while they are on the practice squad.. I dont know why some here cant see the Value in playmakers.."Give me a RB who can pick up 1 yard but no more than that i just need 1 yard!!!" ok RC Slocum..

the HC already said #42 will have plays in the offense, some here just choose to ignore he said that.

That's just it, Simi is just a workout measurement athlete and pet project that just has not translate those workout numbers to the playing field.

Houston is not an athlete but he makes receiving and catching look much more fluid and natural than what Simi does. He has a much better knack
for pass game and routes, and reliable hands than what Fehoko has displayed.

Seems like it's gonna be very difficult for you to have to let that pet project image and hope go, but it's not looking like it's gonna work out.
