Well this is certainly something Murray does and did against the vagiants last year so it doesn't surprise me to see the jerk Mara all over this.

This is one of the first time the league has tried to make a player safety rule that addresses the larger issue with chronic traumatic Encephalopathy: chronic lower impact collisions, particularly against lower weight players. The issue is much less about concussuons than it is about this type of repetitive trauma.

It's a good rule and I hope it goes into effect. It's worth diminishing the quality of the sport a little if it prevents players from having devastating neurological complications.

Don't like this rule at all. The last thing the league needs is more subjective penalties. Pass interference, illegal contact and other penalties are already called very inconsistently game to game and even play to play. The officials on the field already have way to much control over the game, there is no reason to give them even more.

If you have played the game on any level you would know how stupid this rule is.

Not to mention your putting it in the hands of the refs to judge it.

At what point do you just ban the sport? Because we know it isn't a safe activity.

I wonder if he would still be behind this with Tiki Barber on the team, or how about Brandon Jacobs. IDIOT

It's a horrible rule. If it's worth diminishing the quality of the game, it's pretty much worth just doing away with the game because lower impact collisions happen ever snap.

The rule only applies to runs outside the tackles I believe.

It essentially punishes effort plays.

I've been behind most of the rule changes but this one is just too much.

Eliminate goal line plays, eliminate kick offs, and eliminate just about everything.

To me it is simply a calculated move by the NFL to have ammo against the players suing them or on any future litigation. Word gets out on possible changes that would benefit the health of players and the players respond negatively to it in the media. NFL will say they were willing to make drastic changes for player safety but the players didn't want any part of it.

Then whipe out all body contact. Go to Flag football. That way no injuries can occur.

They deserve it. Every idiot rule change lately seems to be coming from that organization. Yes, we hate the Iggles and Commanders just as much, but at least they don't make idiot rule changes. That's Mara and the Gnats who do that. He also wants to get rid of kick offs, and penalizes teams for spirits of rules that don't exist. I can't stand him. Now he is trying to ruin the game even more.

Mara is the head of the owners committee or something like that.

You can pretty be sure that what he wants is pretty much what the owners want.

That's why it sucks that he's saying it.

Stupid rule, players know the risks involved when playing football starting at a young age. If a RB doesn't want to risk a head/neck injury, then don't lead with it, simple as that.

Pretty soon we might see a two-below rule on QB's and flags on receivers. These guys make a lot of money and are well aware of what could happen in this sport, it comes with the territory. Football is a violent sport and it should not be dumbed down to Arena League. Let them play the way it has been for decades!

Exactly. Human nature is to duck your head on the impending impact.
Anyone who had played any sport knows this.

Mara did not get past Peeeee Weeeee level. They still have the stained pants from when he played.

Please, go back to watching golf or dance competitions.

yeah, I am sure "everyone" is just gonna love this rule when and if the RB of your favorite team, fighting from the 2 or 3 yd line , can score if he lowers his shoulder and rocks through two defenders, while having helmet to helmet contact. And, the RB scores!!

Wait , only to find out , the ref threw his flag out because of this sissy lame rule. No TD. 15 yds. No TD..

Get back to me when that happens and see how much you like this rule.

I hope "Spirited" bytes him some day, Spirit of the Salary cap, spirited discussions. I bet NFLPA will remember the spirit next time.
