I think Red purposely "paced" Zeke all year to prevent injury (he missed a lot of TC//preseason) and to ensure he is fresh for the stretch run and playoffs. He's proven he's healthy and can carry the load. I suspect we will unleash a heavy dose of Zeke going forward in a deep playoff run.

A RB needs to find his 'rhythm'??

That's more obscure than the 'team chemistry' one people used to throw out.

Dunbar is a key special teams player, better receiver, and better 3rd down back than Morris.
Historically, you are correct. I haven't seen anything close to 2014 Dunbar this year though. I don't think he is that player any more.

No its not really, the large majority of running backs will tell you they need carries to establish a rhythm and get into the flow pf the game. Im not making this up, its a quick google away. Now wether or not they are just crying for the sake of getting more pt I dont know lol.

Very curious to see what DMC can do as a relief or 3rd down back.

People need to realize Elliott simply cannot be on the field for EVERY single offensive snap. Maybe DMC can provide the missing spark when Elliott needs a breather.
I am amazed at how many posters....long time members....respected members....of this forum....are on record saying run Zeke until the wheels fall off. It is one of the more idiotic statements I have ever heard on this board. This kid is 21. They cite his youth as a reason to run him to death. I think that is the very reason you do NOT run him to death. His is 21....21...still maturing both physically and mentally. DMC and Morris are both former 1000 yards backs in the NFL. Use them to ensure you get he best Zeke for 16 game plus a playoff run. That is so obvious to me...not sure why that is not obvious to others.
Emmitt played all the snaps until the game was in hand.
Pitchers used to pitch 9 innings and throw 140 pitches. Michael Jordan played all 82 games most years. Not sure if Emmit was the starting RB for the Dallas Cowboys at 21 years old...but I do know that where we are with the sport of football TODAY....Emmit's record is safe for a long time. The size and speed of the defenders...coupled with the size and speed of RBs....makes the collisions today more violent than ever....and I cannot imagine a RB lasting as long as Emmit did. That was then. This is now. Adjust and keep up....or stay the same and get left behind.

Good. I'll be the first to ever admit I'm wrong and I wanted DMC on the streets going into this season. I was also super excited about having Morris complimenting Zeke.

WRONGGGG

Here to hoping DMC brings a spark when Zeke needs a blow which hopefully isn't too often.
Dunbar has not been that spark, so on 2nd and long and 3rd and long we have another player who can help us, so it's a good thing. :flagwave:

What did Dunbar do in 2014?
Could have sworn he had a few explosive plays that sparked us that year. He was a pretty good receiver out of the backfield too...maybe I have my years mixed up, but he looks nothing like the player I remember.

I've read a while back that the staff's intention is to utilize DMC's ability as a receiver on 3rd downs. It'll save Zeke from an excessive number of reps and afford DMC an opportunity to be productive. I'll be interested to see whether it's DMC or Morris getting running plays to spell Zeke as well. Seeing as how DMC has been elevated above Morris, I'd assume it'll be him doing that as well.

As I recall, Morris started the season being quite productive and then tailed off with lesser carries. He's also not especially productive in the passing game, so there's that also. As good as Zeke has been, it's difficult pulling him to assign touches to others. Here's hoping DMC finds some success and is significantly productive for our offense, whereas Dunbar has also been quite disappointing in his limited action.

What's Dunbar's role then?

It's not obvious cause it's wrong........Zeke needs to eat.....we need to feed him

All those 3rd downs and two minute drill plays with Dunbar were a waste.......Dunbar isn't Sproles and never will be

Zeke is already better out of the backfield than Dunbar or DMC

Losing because we rested a 21 year old is a classic case of circumcising a mosquito

He made some huge plays on the final drive of Week 1 in 2015. That's all that comes to mind

Yeah, it was looking like they finally had a role for Dunbar figured out early last year and then he made a horrible decision to return a kick-off leading to the season ending injury and it seems like they have forgotten how to use him again--which hasn't stopped them from putting him the game.

Looks like his role is kaput -- do you see him enjoying enough success to have one?

Candidly, it not hard for me to envision him being cut. He just hasn't been productive.
