And what's the difference again? You can either rush the passer or you can't. Doesn't matter which side they're on

The Pats make it to the SB about every other year and have rarely had that guy. Seattle has largely been by committee the last few years. A great DE would be huge, but if we get enough good players otherwise, we can win without a Demarcus Ware-type edge rusher.

Doubt it, he might not make it out of round 1. I wouldn't touch him in round 1 personally.
To me Tim Williams is likely either gone by our pick or will probably make it past our pick. If he's clean on the test he's already taken and interviews well he will get taken high because he's a legit talent. If he fails that test and/or interviews poorly then I could see him sliding a long way.

Not all DE's come in round 1, nor do all good pass rushers get rated high before entering the NFL.

Guess what? Some top pass rushers who are taken high in round 1 and have all the RDE measurables go BUST!

We will draft a DE; no doubt about it. He doesn't have to be drafted in round 1, nor does he have to have had great college success so far. We need bodies in the rotation; how they develop is for time to tell. I'm sure there are plenty of speedy DE's like Tapper who were caught up in the wrong defense. We will add bodies who will contribute to the team. Oakland was dead last in sacks last year, #32, despite having one of the best pass rushers in the league. We may not be great, but we will continue to improve.

BPA, if not you end up with Tony Dixon and Willie Blade. We just have to find a way to use them, even if it's not our biggest need. We never know what we might need next year, injuries happen. Who thought Leary was going to be so important this last season?

That's a pretty good post there.

I think Cowboys fans have forgotten that this team led the NFL in sacks over the last 6 games of the season and had more sacks than either of the SB teams... And one of those teams had a "guy" that had 15 sacks this season... Heck the other team traded away its best sack-guy for OL they then cut.

Yes, more DE help is needed but I think the Cowboys did a whale of a job considering how much pass rush talent was either hurt (Tapper, Lawrence, T Crawford) or suspended (Lawrence, Gregory).

Add a "Ware" a rookie DE and mix in just little bit of good luck with Lawrence, Tapper and T Crawford and I think you're at a decent pass rush.

i think if u add ware you dont need a rookie de, because u basically have a rookie in tapper. And hes healthy. And they have Gregory, which Jerry has already said Gregory isnt going anywhere.

This team is losing McClain i think they need to look inside. My preference is Brantley because he can play both spots.

You make a valid point... Roster spots are at a premium and IF Tapper & Lawrence are healthy enough to play this season then they'll have 2 of the DE spots... Then you add Mayowa... Up to 3. Add a "Ware" and we're at 4.

most of these guys in the draft especially at the top are LDEs. Really the only one thats uninjured and in the are area dallas will draft in RD1 is Harris. And i really dont think he'd start over Mayowa, since i think Dallas wants to move Lawrence back to LDE. Takkarist would be a nice pickup but he's out for 6months. So he wouldnt be back until september. Starting the yr on the PUP? Think Dallas would be better off going inside with a guy like Brantley at the 1tech in round 1 and bringing in a vet DE. Reports Ware wants a return to Dallas, rotating with Mayowa would be a good thing.
Id sign Ware and take Takk if he fell. Im not too concerned about him missing some time. Rookie years are usually not very productive for pass rushers. Ware would give us a good sub package rusher, and a mentor for Takk

Tapper has already been cleared to go without restrictions. Lawrence im not putting faith in, they guy has been in the league 3 yrs and has needed surgery in 2 of them. Thats not a good sign. I hated the pick when it happened and still do. Dallas couldve had derek Carr with that trade up. He went the 2 picks later. The only pick i hated more was greg ellis over Moss

We have the start of a deep edge rusher group. Talent just needs to stay healthy and develop

You have got to be kidding regarding Gregory. If he ever plays a down again in the NFL I'll be surprised.

You do know he can only apply for reinstatement on Jan 5th 2018?

And even then, *if* he's even reinstated, there's no guarantee it would be before the playoffs.

Even if Jerry and everyone believes in him, he won't effect draft plans
