If you've got a good reason why he should be traded, I probably won't put up an argument-- he's probably our best trade chip. But if maturity is the issue you have, I think that's pretty flimsy.

His antics is part of it. But look at paying 16 mil per year. You want that to happen don't plan on adding players who can rotate on the dline. Forget about having corners that can be dominant in the nickel or dime packs. Don't ask for decent swing tackles or backup interior guys. My wish is having depth that fills in when guys go down. WRs and RBs can be had cheaper if you have a dominant line with depth. Who could Dallas get from sending Dez to another team? I am pretty sure we could gather in an additional 1st and save a bundle too.

One thing sticks out to me. Highest paid receivers in the game. Calvin Johnson and Larry Fitzgerald. There both on teams that have done nothing and are looking bleak for the future. accept maybe Arizona if they build around there dline.
Teams like the patriots, seahawks, niners and Broncos; they dont have the 16 million dollar reciever to be competitive. They invest in there lines and there qb's. I would not have a problem trading or letting dez go next year. He is not worth the 18 million hes going to command. thats like 3-4 defensive linemen right there.

The suggestion put out there was to use our own 1st round draft pick on mike evans this year.

We've had DeMarcus Ware for years, yet we've never really had a great defense. It's because while he has been really great for us, he has never been the type of player to consistently take over games. Yet we pay him like he does.

We have a franchise QB, I'd make the argument that you shouldn't be paying anyone on offense except maybe that left tackle. And when it is time for Romo to hang the cleats up, you get rid of another top heavy player.

If you have capable players across the board, you have a much higher chance at success.

That's true and all but if those high draft picks just go to waste then you've let a good player go for an unknown that didn't pan out.

I'm not saying that we should be afraid to make aggressive moves like this. I'm saying I'm not confident in the team to maximize the opportunity.

And if we DID show some semblance of being able to draft well consistently I may be all for it. But at the same time, if we could draft well consistently, that's really all we would need to do... keep drafting well to get more players on the field to surround the good players we already have-- like Bryant.

18 million? Seriously?

CJohnson was a special case because of his ridiculous rookie contract. DET got hammered by Cjohnson, Stafford and Suh on their rookie deals. That is why they changed the rules. CJ is also better than Dez, as is Fitzgerald.

Dez should get a bump over guys like Garcon, DeJackson and VCruz but not as much as CJ and Fitz. Somewhere around Mike Wallace 5-6yrs/55-70m. Maybe even less per year if they guarantee more upfront. Dez has made good money, but that first mega-money deal is hard to turn down.

Yeah that's what I was kind of getting at. I think it'll be about 6 mil less than the other poster claimed.

Patriots are paying Amendola 10mil/yr & Denver will pay Thomas as much as we pay Dez, & Crabtree is headed to a big pay as well if he stays healthy. Jerry won't trade Dez because he's the answer to his mistake in the 98' draft when he passed on Moss.

He's the only guy on this team that can take over and dominate a game, and some here want to trade that away?

If his QB was able to hit him on some of those deep balls that were off this year he would have put up insane numbers.

This offense takes a nose dive if you get rid of Bryant.

I don't think anyone is giving money to a sorry receiver like Crabtree.
