Re-structuring rather than extending Dak Prescott

As long as JJ running the team and Cap Boy doing the contracts the hope for this team to win a SB is slim to none
Stick to good tacos and a cold beer then...

Cooks has demonstrated his mesh with top wideouts, seamlessly, and now he joins a Cowboys offense headlined by CeeDee Lamb and Michael Gallup — two fellow former 1,000-yard receivers.

And the last time Prescott had three of those at his disposal, he was in the MVP conversation with 4,449 yards and 37 touchdowns to only 10 interceptions (2021), when Amari Cooper was in the building.

Is that good? Seems good.

This is my issue with it….you know what Dak is at this point. He’s pretty much a consensus top 10 by people….

At this point you have to ask yourself can you win with him? If you can re-sign him. It’s a risk but you can’t keep waiting until your guys hit certain milestones to increase their value and get them on crappy deals.
Agreed, but I guess you also have to think...Can you win without him.

We did go 4-1 with a low level backup...No offense Rush.

Too many are acting like Dak had a terrible season last year and he didn’t. Granted he did throw a lot of INT’s, but he still went 8-4 and won a playoff game in convincing fashion. He had a higher passer rating last season than he did in 2017. If he continues to win games and lead us to the playoffs they’ll extend him. The Joneses aren’t about to let him walk unless they have a better option at QB. They’re not going to leave the team without a viable QB. If Dak’s game were to fall off even more this season, resulting in the Cowboys missing the playoffs, then his future with the team could be in doubt.
should have been 10-2 we all know those overtime losses in Jacksonville and Gb with huge leads should have been wins.. i know we're not allowed to go back an d edit history BUT he should have been 10 and 2, he played well enough to win those two games being up 14/17 in the 4th..

Who’s going to quarterback genius?
Right these guys think it’s a simple as cutting a player eating his dead cap and then replacing him with anybody???

I mean even if we pick a number one for the next six years doesn’t guarantee us a quarterback as good or better than Prescott...

that’s the issue here we’ve seen things all around the league they have multiple first round picks for going on a decade and never found their quarterback in the draft and what they do they got desperate and went and picked up guys like Russell Wilson, Deshaun Watson, and made the big move to go get Aaron Rogers and that cost draft capital and ridiculous contracts.

seems easier to keep Dak, instead of realizing the mistake 4 years from now and getting desperate and doing what those teams did.

So we’re talking about trying to save money and moving on and I mean exactly what is the plan to do that without being bad for 2,3,4,5, seasons???

@GehlkenNFL

To complete the Brandin Cooks trade, Texans agreed to pay $6M of his $18M salary in 2023, a person familiar with situation said. So Cowboys acquire Cooks for two Day 3 picks and save one third of his salary.
@AaronWilson_NFL
first reported the financial element to deal.

The Cowboys restructured Cooks' contract following the trade, creating nearly $6 million in cap space and giving them a potential out of Michael Gallup's contract next year. The 29-year-old Cooks is on the books for $6 million in 2022 and $10 million next year.

He'll make just $4 million guaranteed over that span after Dallas converted $8 million of his base salary into a signing bonus. This came after the Texans agreed to pay $6 million of Cooks' $18 million salary to facilitate the trade.
