Ready to compete or a year away?

I think it's likely too late for '25.

However.

IF this team enters the tournament. It will win it.

Yes. Win it.

Yes.. doubt it happens this year.. a real tough ask..

Leicester won the English Premier League a while back.. they started the season 5000-1.. so anything is possible.

I am feeling good about next year tho.. most excited I've been in a long time.

I think we're still 2 years out, and that depends on everything going right. I'd like to see Dallas take a QB high in the draft next year. Dak is getting older and we need to be aggressive.
If you're QB hunting, you don't trade a 1st rounder for a win-now DT.

Jones will try to ride the Dak train until the wheels fall off.

our safeties are now our weak point on D

the top QBs will exploit that

And we still need another really good LB

This offseason COULD set us up for next year as a real contender.

This year...

It is a weak year as no dominant teams

We can score on anyone as long as Dak is given enough time. No one can shut CD and Pickens down. And if they do all they can to do that, we have other ways to work them.

Our D is still the weak point; the back end.

We have dug a hole unfortunately, and need other teams to lose to even make the playoffs. This weekend will tell a lot. I've seen this team too many times look great at home and then look like a completely different team on the road. A road win on Ford field will be huge. A loss will be devistating.
Yes, must prove they can win in the road against a quality opponent, haven’t done that yet this season

What l'm saying, is if a QB falls to you in the draft, you pull rhe trigger and let him sit and learn behind Dak for a couple years. By that time, he should be ready to take over. We have 3 first rounders the next 2 years.

When you look at the league this season, their just isn't a dominate team this season. Both Chiefs/Bills were SB favorites and it is possible, neither make the playoffs. Eagles just haven't looked right all season long. Rams are probably the most complete team, but they aren't unbeatable by any means, hell Carolina just beat them this week. Green Bay? We put a 40 burger against their defense without Lamb. Point is, it is wide open.

I heard a stat yesterday from PFF, Cowboys DL graded out as #1 in the league since the Q. Williams trade. That is insane, considering they were dead last just a few weeks ago. They played 2 good teams in that stretch, so it isn't padding stats against the bad teams in this league. The next step is creating defensive turnovers, which potentially could be coming with Diggs returning.

Playoffs are far from a guarantee at this point, where they don't control their own destiny, get it and see what happens. If they fail, it will be about building momentum for next season.
WTH? I don't know what you mean, but you always compete right now! Next year away? smdh. Take the bulls by the horns, the time is now, not next year!

Jerry pulled the trigger already on Backflip Bazooka Joe. He is still pinching himself remember.

This is the correct answer. If we'd been able to get QWill, Logan Wilson, Overshown, and Revel on the team two games earlier, we'd be in much better shape to make a run this year. If by SOME chance Dallas can get in the playoffs this year, they'll be a dangerous team. I just don't know if it will happen.
Underlying issue is we all (everyone EXCEPT JJ and SJ) knew what we were rolling with on the field and on the staff D-wise wasn’t good enough. Maybe someone with an eye for that stuff found a way to blackmail JJ and SJ into making some moves.

Compete?

1. Need Jerry to crawl into a hole
2. Need to sign Pickens
3. Need to hit on top 2 picks
4. Need to get a FA RT
5. Need to land a RB or sign Williams

Then maybe.

Zero chance they do that. Maybe next yr if Dak falls apart.

Year away, and it all comes down to whether Jerry is smart enough to improve FS and LB.

I think it’s a mistake to look a year ahead. Seize the moment. You never know what’s gonna happen in the future. Look at the Seahawks a decade ago. They had a strong defense and a young QB in Russell Wilson on a rookie deal. They won the Super Bowl their first good year. The future looked bright. They never won another Super Bowl. You never know what next year will bring. We might lose Pickens and Clark to free agency and we might have a serious injury. Win now. That’s all you can control.
Ah, but it's not that simple. They became a super bowl contender by looking ahead!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If we make it to the playoffs, we will probably lose in the 2nd round. Still an incomplete team
