Ready to compete or a year away?

When you look at the league this season, their just isn't a dominate team this season. Both Chiefs/Bills were SB favorites and it is possible, neither make the playoffs. Eagles just haven't looked right all season long. Rams are probably the most complete team, but they aren't unbeatable by any means, hell Carolina just beat them this week. Green Bay? We put a 40 burger against their defense without Lamb. Point is, it is wide open.

I heard a stat yesterday from PFF, Cowboys DL graded out as #1 in the league since the Q. Williams trade. That is insane, considering they were dead last just a few weeks ago. They played 2 good teams in that stretch, so it isn't padding stats against the bad teams in this league. The next step is creating defensive turnovers, which potentially could be coming with Diggs returning.

Playoffs are far from a guarantee at this point, where they don't control their own destiny, get it and see what happens. If they fail, it will be about building momentum for next season.
Our DC is a train wreck,

Ruined our season.

There is still some #hopium left though.

Every year teams start from zero, build and identity, chemistry, get some new players trough the draft and FA, they have to catch some breaks too.

So who really knows what happens next year? Injuries? Talent gone? Even a tragedy can strike as we all know. Things are looking brighter now, hope that is the near future because I'm getting old.

Having said so...If they can get in this season I think they can make some noise, but most important, they can get some valuable experience.

Playoffs is a different animal and we have a rookie HD and some youngsters in the roster, so I hope they get in and play some meaningful games.

I know probably I'm gonna get heart broken when Stafford or Love burns our secondary in the 4th qtr of the second round or even worse NFCCG, but it will be worth it because next season with some experience, a couple of extra mean defenders and a lighting RB is watch out NFC!

I think the answer is both. We appear to be ready to compete now but we could have dug too big of hole.

One loss and it’s done but I do believe next years team depending on draft and FA will be a tough out
Never underestimate the Eagles propensity for total collapse. One loss isn’t the end of the world. The Eagles could easily go 2-3 to finish the year. 4-1 would get it done in that scenario.

and they could easily win 3 and we could lose 2
hopium is not a strategy

No, it isn’t, but any ‘strategy’ when we don’t control the ultimate outcome is ‘hopium’. My point was that our path to the playoffs is probably more likely add division winners than a wildcard berth.
