Real Cowboy fans? Please be truthful

It actually takes a lot more courage to be a Cowboys fan in enemy territory than as a native Texan in Dallas.

Absolutely

i am a local fan. born and raised in texas. i am amazed at the "fan-ness" of those not close like me.

i greatly admire the extra time and money they have to spend to keep up with their team.

everytime i meet someone at the stadium who has flown or drove a long way, booked a hotel, took time away from their home to see their team i am impressed and try to go out of my way to make their trip better.

not to mention i understand because until a couple of years ago i had never been to new york, yet i have been a Yankees fan since Mantle and Maris were knocking home runs for them.

Born and raised in Upstate NY. I could have been a fan of three different teams with in easy travel distance. Played pewee football on a team called the Jets. Still was born a Cowboys fan.

What's funny is I moved to NC twenty years ago, no NFL team.
Every one here were fans of teams from all over the place. Then the Panthers were awarded their franchise and most every one dropped their favorite teams to become Panther fans. No one understands why I didn't.
I don't understand how they did.

I have been to one Bills game in my life, they were playing the Cowboys.
I have been to Giant Stadium twice. Both times against the Boys.
I have been to Texas stadium, play off game against the Giants.
I felt way more at home in Texas.:)

Fans in other areas have to deal with so much bull**** that local fans don't have to deal with (at least in the DC area), for a native Texan to tell me to my face that I wasn't a real fan or a true fan would upset me a lot.
:hammer: great post:bow:

You native Texans are making us out of staters feel pretty good about ourselves. Thanks much!

I am a native Texan. I LOVE that there are so many fans nationwide!! Until the internet, I never really knew just how many there are!! If you love the Cowboys, you are good in my book. :D

But here lately, I've been running into people that live here that are from up North and HATE the Cowboys!

I wore my #19 jersey to Wally World late one night and a guy from Pennsylvania working the nightshift stocking shelves made it a point to stop me and start bashing. He said our team and the fans are a bunch of whiners. He also tried to rub it in that his Steelers had more rings. :laugh2:

THEN, not less than a week later, I was out having dinner and a guy from Michigan struck up a conversation. SAME thing. Big time Cowboy hater! He was a Lions and Brett Favre fan. He tried to tell me Favre never retired and shouldn't have to go to training camp.

Also ran into a 49ers fan! Where are these Dallas Cowboy haters coming from and why do they move to Texas!! :laugh2:

in no way is inferior the right word. Being a native texan living in DFW, its a privilege to be able to get the vibe of a city come playoff time, or come a pivotal game in the grind of the season. Also, its great having cowboys stadium a good 30 minutes away so the games arent a hassle to arrange. For those you out of the lonestar state, keep reppin the star proud!

I am from Upstate NY, lived there all of my 23 years. I root for other New York Teams(Knicks, Yankees) but i actually loathe the Giants more then the Commanders, Eagles and Steelers combined. I dont know what it is about the Giants that rubs me the wrong way, they just do. Im fine with the Jets.

I take pride in being a Cowboys fan and i wear my Cowboys stuff every chance I can. Cowboys fans are a unique brand of fans, and i think i remember hearing somewhere on a Cowboys message board a few years ago that there were Cowboys season ticket holders in each state. I also love how theres more Cowboy fans in New Jersey then there are Giants fans ;)

I was born and raised in Texas. Lived there until I joined the Marines. Moved back there when my husband got stationed at NAS Dallas but don't live there now. I do consider myself a displaced Texan, however. So I feel qualified to answer.

I personally LOVE that we have fans all over the world. I take pride in the fact that when we are on the road you can count on Cowboys fans invading our opponents stadiums.

People are not less of a fan for not living in Texas but supporting the Cowboys. To me that just means they have good taste ;)

Also born and raised in South Texas and life long Cowboys fan. Joined the Marines out of high school and lasted 20 years. Whenever I met a Cowboy fan, I never asked them if they were from Texas or Dallas. Cowboys are Americas team.

I'm from Texas, and being a Cowboys fan is all I've ever known. As long as someone from outside of Texas is a true fan and not a bandwagoner, then I'm fine. I'm from El Paso, which has a majority of Cowboys fans, but we're closer to San Diego than we are to Dallas. That's how big Texas is, so I don't think just being from Texas is a big requirement.

A little tidbit. My grandpa was career US Army. He was born in Virginia, and was a Commanders fans. He even played in their band as a kid. He was stationed here at Ft. Bliss, then retired here. When I ask him why he became a Cowboys fan, (in 1960, when they were founded, btw), he simply replies...

"Because I moved to Texas."

"But as native Texans, do you feel you are more of a fan or that fans outside the area are not the same as we admire them from afar?"

I'm a native Texan and I've never given that a single thought, but since you brought it up...IMO anyone who would feel like that is an idiot.

Same here. It's America's Team that happens to reside in Texas. Don't make me a damn bit of difference where you're from.

You, conceived?:D
You know how you have a vision in your mind of an outcome, but the end result is not quite what you conceived? That's the case with BBGun. Just kidding gunner.:D

I'm a native Texan but my parents moved the family to California when I was a young child. I will be moving back to north Texas either late this year or early next year. I promise I won't think any less of any fan who is not from Texas or doesn't live there. :p:

I grew up in 40 Whiner country and had to suffer their fans for too long, even though some of my best friends are Whiner fans. Poor misguided souls.

Growing up in Oregon, the local teams that played on TV the most were the 49ers and Seahawks, and I loathe the 49ers. Can't say for sure when I became a fan, because I have pictures of me being 4 years old with a Staubach jersey on. But it never faded away.

from Texas(Houston suburb) and i catch more crap from other people for being a boys fan. cowboy hate is everywhere. idc where your from just as long as your a real fan and you rep the star right. if you can hold your own in a football conversation against the haters then idc if your from NY Dallas or Seattle your good in my book

That's so true. When I was in college and there fans a of nearly every team walking around, you were always respected for what team you rooted for unless you were a cowboys fan. From experience, people outside of dallas have an unnatural hate for Romo that is borderline scary disturbing.

Ran across a half dozen people today on campus with Cowboys gear on. One dude in the Bio building, another not too bad looking lady on the 3rd floor of LBJ, and the rest in the Quad in between classes.

There was also a Titans cap.

I was born and raised in Dallas, so it was very easy for me to become and fan, and support the Cowboys growing up. I think most Texans would respect fans from around the country for supporting in places where it's not as typical. If your a loud and proud Cowboy fan in the heart of New York, Philly, or D.C. I find that pretty awesome.

To answer your question though, I do not think Texas fans are in any way different or superior - that's just silly. However, I hate band wagon fans or those that simply support a team because its the popular thing to do, and I'm sure a percentage of Cowboy fans are that type.

thanks, Im a proud Cowboy fan since 71 growing up in NYC, never shy away from telling anyone, wear my hats and shirts, gotten into many arguments, etc
