Real Cowboy fans? Please be truthful

Percentage wise compared to the population, there are more Cowboy fans in San Antonio than in Dallas or anywhere else. If they played there home games in San Antonio, there would be much better fan hysteria, support, noise, you name it. IMHO

Not from Texas but both parents and extended family are, my dad was ** and so am I. Anyway I've never been looked down on by locals, however I look down on my brother-in-law who is born and raised in Tx and lives in North Richland Hills, and he's a Bengals fan.

:bang2:

I grew up in New Hampshire along the Connecticut River dividing New Hampshire and Vermont. During the 1970s, the CBS affiliate in the northern parts of those states was WCAX-TV Channel 3 in Burlington, VT.

In a decade where the Giants and Patriots struggled for the most part, WCAX, like many other CBS affiliates abided by a specific rule:

WHEN IN DOUBT, GIVE THEM DALLAS!

In a time well before satellite and even cable television, I got to see every Dallas Cowboys game in 1976, and nearly every single Cowboys game from 1974 until I left for the Navy in 1973.

And this is northern New England folks!

Giants fans were so PO'ed to see their team get pre-empted week in and week out and forced to watch the Cowboys!

And you wonder why there are so many Cowboy fans in New England? It was probably that way all around the nation.

Dallas sold ratings!

OK Folks... First Post... Love the Zone... Long time reader... It's time...

Born and raised in Dallas (1955 - 1992)
Age when Cowboys began in 1960 - 5 yrs old
First game attended - Cotton Bowl vs. Eagles: 1965

Moved to the Philly area - 19 years ago (1992 - present)
Beautiful area - in the country. Close to Valley Forge... Good people...
Watching the Jerry era from afar

(When we arrived a new neighbor (great guy) tells me 'This is the Eagles year! Boys' 34, Eagles 10... He's still looking for the Eagles year!)

My view? I prefer the earlier version of the Cowboys... classy, perennial underdog, winners, consistent excellence, humble...

Since 1992? It was awesome being new to the Philly area when we won 3 of 4 Super Bowls... But, a lot has changed... Jerry - arrogance, attitude, excess, pride (not the good kind)... Heck, he dismissed the 2nd best coach in Cowboy's history after winning 2 straight SB's. But, in some ways, the last 10 years has been humbling for the club. Oh, the stadium is all Jerry - excessive... Pole dancers? Come on...

Today? The Boys' have assembled a group of humble, hard working guys that I can get excited about again... Wade - great coach. A lot of you guys need to lighten up on him - look at his record! Look at what he has built! You think he's low key... You should have seen Landry!

Fans? My dad had season tickets from 1971 to 1990... Went to many games in Texas Stadium - some of the best (Roger's miracle come back against Washington, Longley's pass, Dorsett's 99 yard TD). The fans in TS? Well, let's just say 'Corporate' and subdued. Heck, I was up and screaming when Dorsett broke that one, looked around and was embarrassed to be the only one up and yelling in my area. Not real enthusiastic, but loyal. Maybe spoiled? But, my experience was way back in the 70's and 80's.

Been to a few Eagles games here(some against the Boys')... Fans are much more amped up at the game (as you might have noticed). But, outside of the stadium, particularly living 'out in the country' west of Philly - people are somewhat 'Corporate' and subdued about their Eagles. And... polite and understanding about being a Cowboy fan. In fact, their are a lot of Cowboy fans around here - and they were actually born and raised here...

First, because you are a Cowboys fan, you are automatically bruthahs!
DUH!
Why?
Because you CHOSE to be a Cowboy fan even though you are away from God's Country.
Now, geographical genetics is complicated, and I know you will never feel completely Texan. But the thing is, little bros, you are probably THE BEST FANS AROUND!

You have to put up with turds and America haters at work on Mondays. Still you suffer in silence, knowing you are on the side of America and the right path.
You don't go to the local Big Foods store and see lots of people wearing Cowboy jerseys like in my hood. Here it is total Cowboys attire and nascar hats and that is the way we like it.

Little buddies, outside of the boundaries set forth after the transfer of land from Mexico to Texas and the U.S., while you dont live in Texas you are something even better:

You are a Dallas Cowboys Fan and you should be damn proud of it.
I cannot write no more, for tears cloud my vision and cloud the computer screen.

Be proud and have no insecurities at all. Go on, go forth.

Thanks, gents... Hostile - I will... Joe - I live in Malvern... Hey - I realized I had a typo after I hit the reply button... (their vs. there)... This can be nerve racking! But, thanks so much for the warm welcome :)

Good stuff, man... Always proud to be a Cowboys's fan... And - always a Texan!

You ever heard of Jersey Shore? No really, it is a small town in amish country near Williamsport.

Well, there is this Latvian girl there. Damn she is nice looking.
check this family friendly link to Latvian Blondes parade: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ucMZGbNJKio
most beautiful women in the world!!!!!!!! nice girls, too.

As to Pa., I hear it is beautiful country there but when the heating oil runs out in winter, look out!

Welcome.:)

I could be wrong here...but didn't that TD run happen in Minnesota...NOT Texas Stadium???

I was young when that game with the 99 yd TD run happened, but I swear it was not in Texas Stadium.

One thing. You don't know spelling, grammar, syntax, narrative pacing or go into non sequiturs here, you are gone.

It was Minnesota. Last game of the 1982 season. January 3, 1983.
