Realistically, how many rooks start?

Let's say by midsession. I think Awuzie takes OScans job. And Lewis is nickel. I think Taco is a year away, but immediately rotates in behind D Law at RDE. That is assuming Irving is starting at LDE. I think Woods is a core special teamer this year, and White and 7th rounders are PS. And obviously, Switzer is punt returner and WR4/5.

we have no rush to start the rookies

i can believe taco becomes a starter unless he stinks up the joint.
CBs wise, i think we will start the vets to begin the year though i can see one of the rookies beating out oscan or the philly guy by the middle of the year.
think heath will start and do a decent job, though the rookies will get to play in the dime.
agreed that switzer can easily become the returner and kick lucky off the team.
though with hanna's injury, lucky could be retainer as #6 WR if switzer beats him out.

1. Charlton

I never count on sub day 1 DBs coming in and starting. Jones was our 4th CB his rookie year. I could easily see Awuzie bumping Carroll depth chart. He would be a "starter" at that point. Could go the other way and say Lewis if they do move on from Scandrick

Awuzie, Lewis, woods, and taco will all get significant time depending upon defensive formation. Especially when the injuries start piling up.

22 new starters....LOL...J/K...

I think Charlton gets more snaps than most feel he does. Especially if he is tried at LDE in TC and looks good.
I can see Awuzie taking over for Scandrick as well, and as you said, Lewis in the slot.
Woods may see quite a bit of playing time later in the year as well. However, don't be surprised if Frazier isn't in the mix as well.
Switzer obvioly not a starter, but he will get his touches, more so on ST's though.

Brown will be the 6th WR, and most likely inactive most of the season.
The rest will fight it out for a roster spot, inactive, or end of on the PS.

I could see Brown pushing Butler off the roster if he shows up on ST's

Starting is hard to say, but I think the first first five all find the field in meaningful ways. I think our top four CB's are Brown, Scandrick, Cheetoh, and Lewis, the order to be determined. Taco definitely makes the Dline rotation and could start. Woods competes with Heath and Frazier to start and get nickel time. Switzer and Thomas(yep) both contribute on special teams and get some plays on offense.

ii honestly wouldnt mind if they made them all starters. Im not looking at is as a negative. My thinking is, you re not making any noise again this year, throw them all in and see what you have. What are you going to do, make the playoffs and lose again, what that get you, another low draft pick at best? Screw this year, find out what you have and take it serious and if it pans out, great, if not no big loss.

This team chose to pooch its own defense, lie in the bed and make it. Roll with what you believed in. THere is no down side to it. Garrett isnt losing his job short of blowing up Valley Ranch. Marinelli is just wasting talent time until the next guy. You have no one coach that we really believe in. Throw the rooks in and believe in what you sold to the public. We ll believe anything. You tell me you are playing 15 ghost players at this point, 20 years of doing nothing all i can is "what could it hurt at this point"

We personally threw away our chances to reimage this defense dont sit there at this junction and say "lets give it time" regardless of what you do all you have is time. you wasted 20 plus years, another 4 or 5 at this junction will not change anything, even becoming winners. Roll with it, the only thing you can possibly do at worst is stumble into victory. Anything else you do and your defenders will take up arms to defend you and the rest of us will say well "rome falls today" for the next 20 years.

I think a lot of people are incorrectly writing Butler off the roster with Switzer. Dak loves Brice as a target and is still probably our best deep threat.

As for the OP, I actually like Taco, Awuzie, and Woods as starters. And so think we'll see significant playing time with Lewis as the 4th corner on dime and Switzer I think will be an excellent returner for us.

I don't believe any start.

At least 5 will see significant playing time and may start a few games depending on personnel/injuries.

Defense starters mean little, only 3-5 players may be every game starter.

I don't know why I bother talking to someone as negative as you. The team chose to improve their defense and not stick with the status quo.

Anyways, give me 13 wins and no playoff wins over a 4 win season any day...why? That means 13 Sunday's out of the year, I drink a few too many beers and enjoy myself. Obviously anything shorter than a Super Bowl is a disappointment but I am no draft scout so why in the world would I want my team to purposely play lesser players if that means they lose more football games? Maybe you should give football a break if you're that negative about your team.

0 barring injuries. They will get playing time, of course, but 0.

This delusional take brought to you by someone who doesn't have a clue about the NFL.
