Actually, I watch pretty much every game by myself; occasionally with close family. I get beyond angry when they lose but I get over it.
I just would prefer to spend my Sunday's watching my team strive to put up a quality product every week rather than just experimenting with players so MAYBE we will be better for it in 3 years. It makes my Sunday more enjoyable and it makes life in general more enjoyable. I'm not going to whine after winning a game that we haven't won a SB in over 20 years, I'm going to enjoy it and hope this is our year. When it's not? I'll pout for a couple days but I'll look forward to the process next season.
The NFL is a lot different than the Cowboy "dynasty" teams. You can't just waste seasons. 3 seasons from now, Dak will possibly be a 200 million dollar player which will limit roster moves, Zeke will going into his fifth year option and POSSIBLY his last year with the team and our OL will no longer be considered "young". We need to put all of our chips on the table these next 3 seasons to win a SB or two before Dak's contract limits our roster flexibility. Pats are the only dynasty since the Cowboys dynasty aka free agency; we all aren't going to be that lucky but if we can get just one ring during the next couple seasons before we need to start paying guys big money, it's worth it. Seahawks looked like a dynasty a few years back, they paid their QB and got a little older and now they are just an okay team...that could be the Cowboys in five years, let's get a ring or two while we can.
We have had a rough two decades but Cowboy fans have a lot to be excited about. We started a new chapter last season and we have one of the youngest, most talented teams in the league. Will we win a couple rings with this group? I hope but if we don't, life goes on...there is always next season. A "dynasty" is not as realistic as the 70s, 80s or 90s. Give me a decade of relevance and a ring or two over the next decade like the Steelers/Packers and I will be satisfied.
you would be absolutely right, if Dallas did what i suggest this offseason and just brought in a new regime. Young QB, great RB, healthy Oline, talent to catch the ball. What do we do, throw away the defense in the hopes its ready in a year or two. Bad planning by Dallas. Should have just brought in a new HC, young and be here for years and can match the other HCs in our divsion. Nope, we go with a vet coach whos been outcoaches by rookies HCs and cant duel with the best of them.
Jason Garrett has proven to the league, hes an average HC who needs talent at every position to make it work. Ok fine, thats a lot of the coaches, but when the roster is sub par, JG cant step up to the plate. THats fact Now you put steak at every position and hes still struggling but has a better chance. Now we backed up the D some, an older DC, and really i dont know if we are grooming our next DC, if we are great, if not, they will bring in hteir own ideals, and if Garrett is somehow pushed out than the next guy should have the right to bring in his own guys and that WILL set the defense back even further. Bad timing while trying your best to be bad. Thats what Dallas did.
Now we are back to gambling, much like they did with Romo and much like even they admitted gambled on Troys health. All bad bets.
The timing was right to bring in a new young regime, now we are set back, on possible set back on the possibilty of another set back. at some point, bring in the flame throw and burn it down the ground or we can all happily whistle and defend this mess. Either way, depending if the NFC east gifts us again, i dont expect the GIants or Eagles to roll over. Skins are still competitive and Dallas has to push harder this season than last and i dont know if Garrett has it in him.
Throw the young studs out to the wolves and lets who emerges as a starter, because lets face it, this season is up for grabs. What do you have to lose? 8-8, 12-4, just as much a gamble as 2-14, because the NFL as changed its face and barring injuries, most teams are competitive each week and most teams step up to play Dallas harder.
